Yes, I'm a newbie buying one of these, but it would be nice to have a quick explanation of the knuckles and how to attach things. I'm not 100% sure I'm using them correctly, and have being an idiot...so just a few quick diagrams would be great in the box.

Very sturdy and the boom arm is great. Get one today!

This is a great piece of equipment..sturdy and holds the boom arm sturdy (I use the boom arm with an sb800 and small softbox for my hairlight). Its a bit heavy for travel, but folds down to small components so it can be used for travel.

The build quality of this stand is amazing. It succeeded my expectations. It is on the heavier side of things but that wont be stopping me from taking it on location. I don't trust any other stand to hold my Elinchrom lights. Everything fits perfectly in my Tenba T488 bag.

I put an alienbee b800 on this with a beauty dish with no issues. I did put a makeshift sandbag on one of the legs though. It is very easy to set up and a bonus is that the legs come off for easier storage/travel.

I previously owned (2) Avenger C-Stands w/ out the turtle base and loved the durability and performance I have with them but transport was difficult and tough.
Having purchased (2) more with the turtle base has been a life saver. The C-Stands now collapse right down for me and even fit right into a nice little case for airline travel. This is your typical rugged tough C-Stand but much more versatile for travel.

Comments about Avenger A2030D Turtle Base Century C Stand Grip Arm Kit - 9.8' (3m):
I shoot with Nikon flashes and have been using small stands and booms up to now. I have seen in Joe McNally's blogs and videos how he relies on C stands for his flashes, and now I know why. This thing is rock solid and much better for positioning strobes and softboxes around subjects. I feel much more confident about putting gear up in the air.
The Avenger gear seems very well built, robust, and easy to manipulate. Great for studio and location work. The stand is heavy, but that's a good thing, as it makes it more stable and robust.
Do buy the E650 6 PIN w/ COLLAR to allow you to more easily attach other gear. And although the stands are very well balanced and solid, sandbags are important to have for safety if people are moving around the set.

This is my second Avenger C Stand. I will tell you that I love the fact that the base is detachable. As a photographer that has to shoot on location, it's so important to be able to break gear down to smaller sizes. This stand is rock steady solid. It will hold your lights, scrims, flags etc.... love it. Will buy a couple more in the future, you can never have to many of these.

I was tired of my light stands falling over on location, and finally shelled out for this big boy. It is heavy (relatively), but worth every ounce. Will hold any umbrella or softbox I own without flinching. I also use it to position my Lastolite Skylite Medium Panel with reflectors and diffusers when shooting solo. Infinite adjustments and angles are a breeze. Removable turtle base is nice for transport.

Comments about Avenger A2030D Turtle Base Century C Stand Grip Arm Kit - 9.8' (3m):
I bought a pair of these to use in a small photography studio. Their uses are infinite thru both the video and photography world, and after a certain point I think it's must have. Great for mounting beauty dishes, sm/med softboxes, holding reflectors, scrims, set items, gobos, almost anything. It's easier to use and more convenient to use than a boom in many cases. Buy baby pins to go with them for photography. Safety cables can be good too. Oh and sandbangs.
I can't wait to get more. Their only disadvantage is that if your doing a multi-light setup and using several of these instead of lightstands, it gets really heavy, really fast. But having one with several light stands is great and replaces a boom.
As far as build quality, and this specific kit that I bought. For my purposes and im guessing most other photographers like me these are perfect. Right height, comes with boom arm and grip head, and the turtle base means the legs come off so it can lay flat or be seperated. Built like a tank and from what I saw when I tried to get used ones, their value does not depreciate regardless how old they are.

In studio and "some" location use. The turtle base is a nice convenience for packing. Picked up the boom arm seperately and love it as well. Feel very confident in the boom stands stability with large modifiers over the Paul Buff boom used previously. Stand is very very solid and heavy duty. Buying another boom setup asap. If you're just planning on using it as a stand only without the need for a boom or the arm then for convenience you may be better served with another lighter portable stand. This is a bit much to lug around to locations regularly, especially if you have multiples. I use my Manfrotto's for that.
