The Monarchs are fully loaded roof prism binoculars at an incredibly attractive price. Nikon's exclusive Eco-Glass(made without the use of arsenic or lead) is used for all lens and prism elements, and the prisms feature phase-correction and high reflection mirror coatings for superior sharpness and resolution. Every air-to-glass surface received multiple anti-reflective coatings, resulting in a 8x42 with much improved brightness, resolution and edge-to-edge sharpness.
All of Nikon's binocular line is backed up by the "No-Fault" lifetime warranty. Regardless of what happens to your binoculars, even of your own negligence, Nikon will repair or replace (at their option) your binocular for just $10 plus the return shipping costs.

Living between the Indian River and Atlantic Ocean I use these binoculars almost daily for bird and wildlife watching. They work perfectly with my glasses. I don't have to worry about the ocean spray or humidity hurting them. I couldn't be more satisfied.

I bought these bincoulars for a safari to Tanzania. I didn't realize how little light my old binoculars (cheap Bausch and Lomb 10X 42s)let in until I used these. Easy to focus, work well with glasses. The diopter adjustment was hard to turn, but you only have to do it once. The lens caps are a little awkward. But overall, they are great.

These are primarily used for hunting. The clarity and brightness is unsurpassed of any other I have tested in the same price range. I extensively researched this product before purchase and the consensus was there is no better product for the price. I agree in all respects. The eyepiece covering is quite worthless and you may as well toss it when it you open the package. That is the only complaint I have.
I also purchased a set for my brother-in-law who is an avid hunter and he is also very pleased with the binoculars.

I have spent three times as much for a "prestige" binocular and they were no better than these Nikon Monarchs. A very sharp, bright and clear image. Next trip leave the "prestige" binoculars home and bring the Monarchs.

Great for bird watching and more. I was upgrading from my ancient Porro 7x50s and was concerned about the reduction in calculated light factor from their 50 to the 27 of these, but I think these are actually brighter than my old 7x50s! I have no complaint about the lens covers (they are tethered), and I can easily replace the carry case if it wears out. I think the 8x42 Monarchs are fantastic value for money.

This is the second pair I've bought. They are so good I gave a pair to my son. We both use them for big game and water fowl here in Colorado. Additionally I use mine for bird watching. The optics are as clear as can be and the field of view is just right. Low light clearity is one reason I bought these.When the sun is going down you need to know if it is doe or buck.

Used for casual birding and general hiking use. I'm a glasses wearer and like the twist out cups. Much better than the rubber cups. The fact that they're waterproof is a plus as a pair of Action 7x Nikons became fogged. Field of view is smaller than the 7x's, but is a trade off with the greater magnification, light gathering, and lower weight. Don't see what the fuss is with the caps. They're on my strap and stay in place for me as of now. I've tried the $1,000+ pairs, and the differences are not significant to my poor and highly corrected eyes and my ego is satisfied with with this second tier pair. B&H price was the best I found [...]

I bought a pair of these for my wife, who loves to watch the birds in our yard. The image is very bright and clear. 8x is perfect for viewing wildlife. Much easier to use than higher magnification binoculars and it allows you to quickly bring the binoculars into play when you spot an interesting bird.
