Ilford HP5 Plus is a fast black-and-white film. It is ideal for action, available light, and general purpose photography. HP5 Plus is compatible with all major processing systems, including those which give the standard short fixing and washing times.

This film is absolutely stunning in 4x5. The midtones are very detailed but the film remains fairly contrasty with the right developer. I usually develop in D-76. There are only two bad things about this film. Firstly, it really should be shot at ISO 320 and developed at ISO 400. I find my negatives are slightly underexposed at 400 developed in D-76 (stock). I also noticed that it scratches easier than TriX as well, so just be very careful loading and unloading.
Otherwise, I couldn't be happier. This film's tonal range and sharpness are both outstanding. The price is very good as well.

I bought this film for a school project with a large-format camera. When I hand developed the film, the images were absolutely perfect!!! Razor sharp clarity and very fine grain. I would highly recommend this film as a beginner. It was the first time I had ever used a large-format camera and my pictures came out great.

Bought this film to use in a studio class, and I'm surprised at its exceptional performance since I'm not a big fan of Ilford's 35mm film.
At ISO 400 the grain is fine and the finished print is sharp, detailed, and beautiful.
Though I haven't had a chance to try different 4x5 films, I am happy to continue using Ilford's.

I have never had any problems with this film. The film is always consistent and has always been reliable when it comes to a quality image. It is very easy to use and develop on your own as well. I have recently switched to scanning in my negatives and have been very pleased with the results that I have been receiving.

I use HP5 Plus Illford black and white film, with my Graflex Super Speed Graphic 4x5 cam and I have always been very satisfied with the results. Ilford is a staple name in film and has never let me down. For the price of the film, I do not think you could get a higher quality black and white image.

So far, this film is great. I am starting out in large format and have found that HP5 has a great tonal range. The price is also very reasonable. I am glad that this product is sold in packs of 25 vs. only 50 as well.
