The Spirit multimedia boom box from Califone is a lightweight and rugged audio player ideal for indoor or outdoor use in schools and other institutions. Constructed from rugged ABS plastic, the Spirit features a CD player with a random play feature and an LCD display. An AM/FM tuner is provided for picking up radio signals, and a cassette player/recorder allows you to play back pre-recorded tapes, or record signals from the CD player or AM/FM tuner.
The boom box has 4 built-in speakers, allowing it to reach every listener in a large classroom. It also has a standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack for private listening. Multiple users can listen via headphones with the addition of a headphone jack box (sold separately).
The Spirit can be plugged into a wall using the permanently attached AC power cord. It can also operate via 8 C batteries, ideal for mobile or outdoor use. The built-in carrying handle makes it easy to take the Spirit anywhere.
The Spirit also offers a 1-year warranty for use in schools, churches, businesses, and government facilities. The warranty on many other common multimedia players becomes void when used in one of these institutions.

WANTED A RADIO TO LISTEN TO CD, AND RADIO BY MY POOL IN FLORIDA
MY NAME BRAND UNIT HAD TERRIBLE SOUND. THIS UNIT IS ALMOST HIFI, LIVELY SOUND FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC.
WISH IT HAD DIGITAL DIALING. HOWEVER IT PULLS IN ALL TWO CLASSICAL MUSIC STATIONS HERE IN SO FLA.

I bought the Califone Spirit CD/Cassette Radio Boom Box for an older friend of mine that is devoted to cassette tapes. But before I gave it to him, I tested it out for two days, and its a pretty solid machine. There's a volume control and bass boost button, which sounds great, but that's it. It plays CD's, CD-R/RW's very well, and the tape player can record the CD, radio, or utilize its embedded microphone, making recording voices easy with very good sound.
The color ended up being a kind of brown/copper which I didn't like. I would have preferred silver or white, but hey, the unit works very well. And my friend says it's been working well for him too since I gave it to him. We're pleased with the sound quality, and the lack of bells and whistles is really no big let down.

This player/radio is a wel built unit while still being light enough and small enough to carry to the beach or pool.The convenience of it playing CDs and cassetts is definetly a plus.

I was able to get 3 of these CD/Cassette Radio Boom boxes for my 1st Grade classroom. I use them for a listening center where the kids come and are able to listen to books on CD or cassette. What I love about them is that they are sturdy, which is very important in a classroom full of 6 and 7 year olds! :) I also love the sound quality. It is great! The kids love to have their headphones plugged in and be able to listen to great stories! I am so thankful that I found B&H because we were struggling finding good quality CD and Cassette players.
Thank you so much for selling them. I know that there are 25 very happy 1st graders that thank you too.This product will also allow hundereds more 1st Graders to use and benefit in the years to come!
