The Sunpak Mini-PRO Plus/B, in black anodized finish, features Sunpak's Compact Ballhead. With its large locking knob and full 90-degree tilt for vertical format, the Mini-PRO Plus/B - as with all Mini-Series tripods - has a center column that is secured with an oversized locking collar, while the lower end of the column has a suction cup mount to adhere to smooth surfaces - ideal for when using the tripod with longer focal lenses, to prevent camera tip-over.

Comments about Sunpak MiniPro Plus with Ballhead:
I bought this tripod to hold one of my Sunpak 555 handle-mount flashes. It seems pretty solid with positive locking and mostly metal components. It has a handy suction cup on the bottom of the center column if you're using it on a smooth surface. Footprint is fairly wide and it's pretty stable with the center column down. Ball head action is pretty good with positive locking. It doesn't have a return spring in the mounting collar, so you either have to loosen the ball head or turn the whole tripod to screw it into a flash/camera. Overall it seems pretty solid - it would be nice if it had 2 sets of locking collars for the legs - instead there are 3 segments for each leg with one locking collar and a spring-loaded pin.
My only serious gripe is the plastic molded center piece. All other parts are metal - why couldn't they make such an integral part metal as well?? When this plastic part cracks, the entire tripod's structure is compromised - I've seen it happen with other cheap tripods.
It's nice and small when collapsed - I keep it in a sock to protect it while it's in the stand bag with other grip equipment.

I purchased 2 of these tripods to support my Glidetrack slider. I screw one into each end of the slider to use in areas that are uneven such as creeks or hillsides. They are sturdy and versatile. I chose the ball heads because I can set the slider at any angle I'd like. They still allow me to shoot from a low angle.

Comments about Sunpak MiniPro Plus with Ballhead:
I recently purchased a slider and in some situations I can't lay the slider directly on the ground because of the slope etc. I like the low angle slider shots so I was looking for a sturdy, low, well built tripod with a ball head to mount my slider onto. The MiniPro Plus looked like it would fit the bill, so I ordered it and B&H got out to me real quick. I must say that it was a great purchase. Now that I see the quality of the tripod, I will be ordering a second one to mount at each end of the slider.

Great tripod with great balance, even with a larger telephoto lens attached to it. The ballhead allows movement in any direction by loosening only one screw.

I took this little guy to Costa Rica and used it along with my larger tripod. It comes in handy when at a restaurant and you want to do self portraits. Great for hikes through the rain forest and don't want to carry a lot of equiptment. I uses it with my Canon G9.
