I use this product as a Hobbyist Photographer. This is NOT a professional quality tripod, but keeping that in mind, this tripod is awesome. It is of a very solid aluminum construction, it folds to a VERY small size for portability and comes with its own travel bag! It is FULLY adjustable to just about any size you could possibly need! While the framework is aluminum, the head is made of plastic, and I can see this wearing out over time, but it functions ADMIRABLY currently, even in weather as low as 18* F! (yes, I know, I have no idea why i was out shooting in that weather either...)This unit has all the features you'd love to have, with very little compromises. Both the head, and the tripod itself have levels on them, to avoid leveling corrections in post-processing. The head features a quick release camera mount for those shoots when you need to move quickly from tripod mounted to hand-held, it has spikes in its feet for great steady outdoor multi-terrain performance, and it is light, portable and easy to use!For under [$], I think you would be hard pressed to find a better tripod. If you're a professional photographer, this tripod isn't for you, but if you have thousands in equipment, why would you only be spending [$] on a tripod anyway? For the hobbyist photographer, this is the tripod to get!

I bought this because I just needed something to hold my Canon 7D still. For that purpose, it works fine.
If you plan on doing ANY video work on this, I'd recommend to buy a better (more expensive) tripod. The pan/tilt is jerky, and clunky. It's the opposite of smooth.
For holding a camera in place, it's fine.

I use this tripod to shoot night photos around NY. I needed a lightweight tripod that I could lug around that could open or breakdown quickly. I also didn't want to spend very much money. This has been perfect! I like that it has the balance bubble thing (not sure the technical name) so that I know if my camera isn't even. And, it has a quick release, which is perfect for a photographer on the go. If you are looking for a CHEAP tripod, this is the way to go.

This is a great tripod for the price. However, I am noticing that the tilt mechanism is not completely functional on my tripod and doesn't tighten down. Good for using as a beginner tripod, or for bumming around the city.

I purchased the Sunpak 6601 UT to support a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 three years ago. I'm still using the tripod. It's not perfect, but ideal for my use because of its relatively low weight. I've carried it cradled in my arm while hiking on a 4 hour photo shoot. Sometimes it can even be too light. I've had a strong gust of wind blow it over - I caught it in time. There's a lot of plastic and lightweight metal that keep the weight down. I'd rate it OK for point and shoot, and compact cameras. A heavyweight SLR might exceed this tripod's load capacity.

This tripod is unbelievable. I use mine for a small flash. It's very sturdy and all the knobs and adjustments can take the abuse of a fast set-up and take down. I will be transitioning all my flash tripods to this model.

I ordered the tripod for use in the office, but once I saw it I need to order one for myself. As a photography student it will fit my need and my budget. Good quality, love that it has actual levels (like a carpenter's level) which will help me get a great shot without needing to rotate the image in Photoshop.

I just got into landscape and night photography and this tripod does what I expect of it. It is also lightwieght so you can walk around quite a bit carrying this and your other equipment. I wouldn't recommend this if your equipment is heavy, however.

this must be the golden age of tripods. This is a great little tripod at a great little price. The only drawback is that if you're using it in a enviroment with a lot of floor vibration watch out because it will transmit up to the camera. But hey, a this price what do you expect.
