The Benbo Trekker 3 Tripod Legs incorporates slightly geared faces on the main joint components, ensuring that the joint can be locked firmly without undue tightening of the locking handle. The flexibility of the leg joint mechanism combined with the ability to swing the center column a full 180° allows the camera to be positioned at almost any point relative to the tripod legs.

The Trekker will support the majority of modern DSLRs and medium format film cameras. However stability is directly related to weight and the built-in hook at the lower end of the center column allows the temporary addition of extra weight (e.g. a camera bag) to give greater stability when long lenses are in use.

The Trekker does not come with a tripod head so you can separately purchase one to meet your particular needs

Comments about Benbo Trekker Mk3 Tripod Legs:

I use this tripod as my main tripod. It slides on hard floors feet really needs dirt or soft ground to sick. If you add extra wait to it with a camera bag it helps it from moving.

Comments about Benbo Trekker Mk3 Tripod Legs:

I have owned the Mk3 Trekker Tripod for 10 years with a Novflex Magic Ball head and it is superb for all kinds of outdoor photography. Granted, when I first started using the tripod the leg setup took some getting use to. After using the tripod for a few months the set-up came natural. After 10 years of use the "bent-bolt" stripped out and am now ordering another Mk3 Trakker Tripod. In fact am also considering ordering the Benbo 2 as a second outdoor tripod.

I have owned this tripod for some time now, many years. It was a bit frustrating to adjust at times, but it sure WAS flexible in its abilities.By WAS I mean the swivel part froze up on me one day. I cannot tighten and secure the legs any longer. I sent a message to Paterson and have NEVER received an answer back. I will probably still try to get a fix for this tripod, but will most likely not buy another one.

Comments about Benbo Trekker Mk3 Tripod Legs:

I have owned a benbo trekker for nearly 10 years. It's design is brilliant. Very flexible. You just need to get used to it. I find working with traditional designs very limiting and frustrating. I shoot fungi, and friends with traditional tripods, regularly borrow my benbo to access difficult angles. My major problem is that the legs have become loose in the socket, making it unstable. I have tried to fix this with limited success. I do not know if later models still have this problem. No other tripod I have seen goes where this one goes.

Comments about Benbo Trekker Mk3 Tripod Legs:

Product takes some time to get used to. When time is crucial for the shot I would not recommend this product. However, as a spare it is a neat product because of the angles that you can get. I can see individuals owning this for shots that their other tripods can't get. Once you get this tripod at good angle it takes a lot to change. So find an angle and let this tripod live there while you use your other tripod for everything else.

Still not comfortable making adjustments with camera attached. The legs and the center column are all sandwiched together with one fastener attached on a single pivot point. It is pretty much all or nothing with this system as far as being secure or not; that being said having my camera balanced in one hand doesn't thrill me while I am trying to adjust the tripod with the other. So I dismount the camera before any big changes. Just a precaution that takes extra time but I feel it is worth doing with this setup.

Comments about Benbo Trekker Mk3 Tripod Legs:

Wouldn't hold a cinder block still on a calm day.

Adjustment for leg angles is bizarre and you usually end up getting your finger pinched. There's usually a way to find the right angle, but you have to stop and think about it every time. Isn't worth it, anyway.

Spend the extra $ and get something that won't drive you insane.
