Comments about Smith-Victor 100 W/S Flash Kit with Softbox:
This kit is easy to set up and easier to use. My first shoot with it I strapped it to my motorcycle to get to the location. the carrying case made it very easy to transport. The strobe is strong and recharges faster then my hotshoe. I am very pleased.

It is great for the money and it works great. I would just invest in some sandbags to be on the safe side.

Comments about Smith-Victor 100 W/S Flash Kit with Softbox:
The kit is complete, the price is fair, and the quality (at this price level) is very good. The FL 160 probably would not long withstand the rigors of a busy professional studio--some of the key parts such as the FlashLite housing and boom clamp are hard plastic, but the photo enthusiast should have no trouble enjoying many years of service. I did spend a lot of time trying to assemble the softbox. SV did not include specific directions and I was a bit timid about bending the metal rods that create the softbox shape. But, once they were seated, the rest of the unit went together with ease. I had such trouble assembling the softbox, that I decided to leave it put together. SV included an extra piece of diffusion material for added light control you can easily Velcro into place if needed. Note: when unpacking for the first time, be on the lookout for the modeling light bulb—it's in a tiny white box that is stuck in a cut out in the side of the white Styrofoam surrounding the FlashLite housing. It's easy to miss. I was impressed with the included FL 160's carrying case—it is study, well-padded, and not at all cheap. Didn't expect that at this price point. All-in-all a great buy for the money. The Flash Lite 110i makes a perfect hair light. I used it in a 4-light set up along with some very old Bogen monolights and achieved excellent results. Oh. Use a sandbag…you'll just feel better.
