The DMP3 is a two channel microphone/instrument preamplifier with a frequency response of 20Hz to 100kHz, making it ideal for 96kHz recording work. Exceptional dynamic range is complemented by the unit's 66dB of gain. Classic VU meters provide excellent visual reference of output levels. Phantom power, phase inverse switch and a high-pass filter are provided on both channels.

I purchased the DMP3 for two reasons. The first being a boost for my microphone. The second was for using musical instruments directly through the mixer, such as guitar, bass and electronic drums. I have found that using this unit for microphones put me into a situation where I was fighting feedback constantly. It definitely does boost the signal, but even with the volume turned all the way down, I had feedback problems. To feed other instruments directly through the mixer, this unit works great. You can get pretty definitive with the volume, effects and impedence matching with this unit.I have no complaints with the unit. It does just what it says it will do. But, I think for microphones, it is better suited in a live stage situation where you have to link into a long snake. Long snakes tend to lose signal strength, especially in a live setting. This would be ideal as you could boost the signal to compensate for the signal loss. I like the unit and its flexibility.

Pretty easy to use. The Hi/Low gain button needs to bebetter labeled, but it's pretty easy to figure which iswhich. I use a small piece of masking tape to label it.Other than that very easy. I LOVE the addition of the phasebutton for each channel. Makes it easy to mic the top andbottom of the snare. It sounds pretty good. Yes there's a little hiss, but onlywhen the gain is near full 66db and that is only noticeableif nothing is coming through the mic. Room ambiance is lowerthan the hiss.I'm giving it an 8 because it is very good for the price.I'd replace it in a second if it broke. It's no grace 101 oran even higher price are, but at a 1/6th the price (used)...for two pres... unreal.
