I use my printer primarily for custom pigment ink enlargemants and the longevity is and has always been fantastic. Never lets me down. Make sure to calibrate your monitor and printer prior for sucessful outcome.
Have been using the Epson 2200 for years now and keeps on ticking. Not an everyday user but when I do its the best for the money.Unless your very knowledgeable with switching out ink on a dedicated printer keep with the spec ink the manfg. suggests. Go in peace...........

I've used the Epson Stylus Photo 2200 for color printing, including serious archival printing, for over seven years now. During that time, I've only used the Epson UltraChrome inks. The printer just keeps working. The only limitation to what comes out is what I send in.

Off-brand ink costs a little less but I have tried a few different brands and found that 1) the Epson cartridges clog less 2) Epson was once famous for short-changing its ink cartridges but now these cartridges are long lasting.

Well, I cannot print with out photo black... It is a got to have prduct when printing. Great richness, and works well with my need for a "Digital Negative". I use my printer to create negatives for contact printing using Cyanotype, VanDyke, Kallitype and more. So it is important that my blacks be as rich as they can possibly be.
