The QR-HSGM is a Universal Hot-Swap battery mount. Utilizing the Gold Mount, battery-mounting system, the QR-HSGM can be attached to any portable device with an existing Gold Mount bracket. The "Hot-Swap" design allows the QR-HSGM to mount two fully charged *batteries simultaneously. Either battery can be changed-out for a fully-charged battery at any time.
The QR-HSGM offers true perpetual power, by allowing the operator to "swap-out" a battery with low available capacity, with a fully charged battery, without having to power-down the equipment.
*Any combination of Dionic 80, HyTRON 50 or Proformer batteries only

Comments about Anton Bauer QR-HOTSWAPGM Hot-Swap Battery Plate:
I have several Hytron50 batteries that don't power my JVC HD110 for as long as I need them to, especially when I've got a light and mic to power. With the Hot-Swap I can get the power of two small AB batteries(hytron50, dionic90, etc.) and be able to swap one of them out when voltage gets low without having to power down or even stop recording. It's great to use to balance out the camera as well when using a matte box.
The Hot-Swap also has the threaded holes for the wireless mic plate, or firestore mounting plate.
One of the things I don't like about the Hot-Swap is that it doesn't translate the battery data to the camera. For example, my HD110 will show the remaining time, voltage or percentage when I've got the battery attached directly to the camera via the gold-plate adapter. When I attach the Hot-Swap adapter, I can only get voltage readout in my viewfinder, not percentage or time remaining. I believe the viewfinder readout is a feature that is only available on the JVC when an AB battery is detected.
Also, this doesn't have a PowerTap connection on it, which isn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to have a second one.
This is a great addition to any Anton Bauer battery collection if you have more than one small-style battery.
