Basic device, but works ok. Not sure if the edge (paper stop) is perfectly aligned to give you a perpendicular cut, it doesn't seem to line up perfectly with the printed marks. I have not verified to see if the cuts are perpendicular. You have to press down hard on the cutter to make a clean cut. An extending ruler to measure cuts for longer paper oriented horizontally would help. Instead you have to measure cuts with a separate ruler beforehand.

I use the product to cut pictures. I bought it so my kids could cut straight edges on pictures and papers for school projects and not use a guillotine cutter. I thought this would be safe and easy to use and it is. Now I use it to cut school pictures, and other paper craft items. You do have to apply steady pressure to get the blade to cut. I figured that out quickly and instructed my kids.

The Carl rotary cutter is solid and easy to use. It is much safer than the old guillotine lever. It works very well for cutting large format papers and canvas printed from rolls.
My only suggestion is that additional blades types be included in the package.

This cutter does exactly what it is supposed to. It makes super clean cuts and the blade seems to last a while. The only thing that i don't like about it is that there is no way to measure the long side of larger prints like 11x14s. The board doesn't extend far enough. This could be a simple fix by the manufacturer, such as having a ruler that extends past the edge of the board. As it stands, if you want to cut the long side of larger prints, You have to use a separate ruler.

I use this cutter primarily to trim photographs and to trim note cards printed on photo paper. It does an excellent job. It is very accurate and is very easy to use. The clear paper guide is a blessing when one needs to make ultra-accurate cuts. This cutter is great for photo paper up to 11 x 14, which is more than can be handled by a 12-inch cutter. This one is so handy to use that I am thinking about buying the 18-inch CARL cutter.

The RT-215 cuts very accurately, comes assembled and is really easy to use. Also is a lot safer than using a big arm cutter. Very happy with it. The 15" is a nice size too. Give you a little extra room than a 12".
