The Tram TR50 is a professional omnidirectional electret condenser lavalier microphone with a low-profile design resulting in low visibility. The TR50 features a frequency response that enhances the character and frequencies associated with speech.
The polar pattern provides a generous pick up response at the direct and off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. This enhances sensitivity and minimizes noise associated with movement, wind and clothing contact. The TR50 features minimum sound coloration and is available in a variety of connectors, this version features a standard 3-pin XLR connection for standard operation with any mic-pre.

I've only used Sony and Sennheisers before and this is great. Neat small and rugged carry case for the lav and all accessories. Run on small calculator type batteries if no Phantom power is available. Great sound.
Shot on a building where there was cell phone equipment and the camera front rifle mic was buzzing furiously (From a Sony dsr-450). The Tram had no problem at all and there was no interference at all. Practice with yourself using the vampire clips before puncturing your interviewees. They are good but its easy to stab ones self or wreck clothes.

TR50s have a great and well deserved reputation. I have a few that always performed really well. Unfortunately the last one I bought had a defective battery that 'exploded' overnight and damaged its casing. I don't know if Tram now makes those casing less sturdy then in the past, but now when I'll buy another one (and I will) I'll make sure to have a spare mic just in case. Anyway, thanks to the fantastic B&H return policy and employees, I had no trouble whatsoever to return the damaged mic.

Comments about Tram TR50 - Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone with XLR Connector (Black):
We use a pair of these for capturing dialog for educational video. The output is fairly low, so the camera and mixer self-noise become more of an issue.
I have used these for voice-over work as well. Will work in a pinch, mounted on a small foam block using the vampire clips. Stuffed the other end of the block in between the knobs of my small-format mixer and let the talent do his thing. The sound came out clear and intelligible, but with nowhere near the punch and authority of a large diaphragm condenser. No problem, it was not designed to produce that sound, and did quite well regardles.

This product has already served my company and myself very well. After lots of hunting the price was the best I found and the quality of sound after recording is above par even without a mixer. For a wired lav mic I could not ask for a better product. Also, the case provided helps me to keep everything well organized and protected.

Comments about Tram TR50 - Omnidirectional Lavalier Condenser Microphone with XLR Connector (Black):
This microphone delivers INCREDIBLE sound quality. The accessories that come with it enable it to be used for a variety of positions. It's hard to see it with a clip, which is fantastic.
What beats all however is the sound quality. VERY crisp and clear, as if the person was right in front of you.
It's not the cheapest, but definitely worth every penny if you want EXCEPTIONAL audio quality.
