I buy these to put in my Flolight fluorescents. They look just like Kino Flo and the Flolight fixtures are significantly cheaper. In my opinion, the technology of Kino Flo isn't the lights, it's the lamps. They make the difference.

I use Kino Flo True Match lamps in my Diva lights and my Lowel Fluo-tec light. Other manufacturers may claim to be 5500K, but in most cases, when you pull out a color meter, they are off by several hundred degrees and have a shift toward green. It is true that you can white balance or color correct to compensate, but I prefer the accuracy of the Kino Flo lamps. Only negative: they are fragile.

These lamps are very consistent, so it is tough say anything other than "they are what they are." That is also why they are the best. There is simply no substitute.

There are some alternatives to KINO bulbs. I tried an off brand recently (purchased through [...]) and the colors were unusable. The daylight bulb had a green haze mixed in, and the tungsten bulb was far too in the red spectrum...very "salmon" looking. I do not like the fact that there is no competitive alternative bulb to help save a few $$'s...but these bulbs are right on and I recommend NOT using anything else.

I'm using them to light a greenscreen with homemade fixtures and they are fantastic. Consistent color, instant on and no noise.

They last quite a while, but having extra is a must, plus it helps to have both the KF29 and KF55 for indoor and outdoor lighting color matching.

After 4 years, I decided to replace the bulbs in my Parabeam fixtures, the new bulbs were 1/2 stop brighter, but the color was exactly the same (I use 1/8 green filtration because I find the Kino flo bulbs too pink when matched with daylight)

I use Kino Lamps in my own fixtures as well as the Kino Fixtures. At 8000 hours life expectancy, You Buy em once and can move on to other equipment for your kits. They are bright enough for outdoor use, Color rendering is consistent and true. For a one time purchase, (unless you break em) why would you buy anything less than the Real Thing. No worry about color Mis-match or quality. Consitency without Question. In Fact, I have Kino Tubes from three years ago that match perfectly, to the color of the new ones. Wow! That makes for a headache Free production every time! B&H ships them right away. I get what I need, when I need it. Packed like a fragile Egg, there are never surprises with Shipping Damage. I wont be buying more, because they will outlast my usage needs. I will be buying more fixtures. Kino Flouro tubes are the only way to go for Flouro Lighting. Hands Down, Game over.[@]
