The D5CE from AJA is an SD-SDI digital video to Component, Composite and Y/C analog video conversion device; it has the ability to convert within NTSC or PAL television standards.
- Variety of Outputs
- The user has the ability to select composite, component or Y/C analog video output to suit most applications.
- SDI Loop
- An SD-SDI loop out is supplied for monitoring or digital distribution applications.
- Compact Size
- Measuring only 5" in length this unit will fit into small studio spaces or desktops very easily.
- Multi-Standard
- NTSC or PAL television standards are automatically selected to match the system being converted.

We use the AJA mini converters to transport signal to-from cameras and production equipment. These SDI to component units are great for single cable runs to monitors and presentation equipment. This unit does what it claims to do and we have no problems to claim.
HOWEVER - if you are going HDMI to SDI, beware. The AJA boxes are not compatible with HDCP (copyright) protection and will not communicate with HDMI cameras to activate the video output. So, my new HDMI cameras cannot directly be converted to SDI to go directly to our production switchers (Tricaster). It's a shame that Hollywood's paranoia for copy protection prevents users like us from actually using equipment we spend good money on.
SO- It's back to Analog Component, just so I can get a decent feed!
