Great for what it is...a tripod that easily folds and fits into my hard case along with my lens adapters, counterweight, headphones and mic. I use it with my Canon HFS100 for low-angle shots. Wobbly when fully extended, but...that's not what it's for. It's for putting sticks on a camera that you intend to keep low to the ground or on a table.

Really sturdy and well made - I'm hoping it will last a long time; works really well my a small digital cam or w/ my d40.

Comments about Slik Compact XL Tripod with 2-Way Panhead (Black) - Supports 2.1 lb (0.95 kg):
I needed a very compact tripod for shooting video interviews that I could put in my carry on luggage. It works well with a small video camera like a Canon HF-200 or a point and shoot. It is tall enough to be used on the floor, but is also a great table top tripod when sized down.
It is a bit unstable at its tallest height, but holds a small camera steady if you don't bump the tripod. If you lower the center column it is much more stable. If you use it more like a table top (legs half as tall) it is stable enough for a Digital SLR (40D with a 24-105L lens).
It is very easy to setup and the tripod operation is quite smooth for such an inexpensive tripod.
The only real con is you need to adjust the length of the legs to level the tripod.
This a no brainer for someone in need of a versatile travel tripod.

I needed a very lightweight tripod that I could carry with me at all times. This Slik fits the bill perfectly. It's extremely light and compact and folds down to a very small size. I can strap it to my bag and it's always there when I need it, but doesn't get in the way. Very solid for such a light tripod and has no problem keeping my 40D with medium weight lenses attached very secure and still. I don't shoot with heaving telephoto lenses which would be out of this tripods range, but it feels like it could handle more weight than I'm using. Seems quite well made for the price and I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Slik Compact XL Tripod with 2-Way Panhead (Black) - Supports 2.1 lb (0.95 kg):
I got this tripod for a Hawaii trip, to use with my nikon d40 on all the hikes. Very light and compact tripod, but it is a bit on the flimsy side fully extended. I usually kept the legs half folded for more stability. It was very easy to carry around for hours, and proved useful in combination with a remote for self portraits that are well composed. I didn't like the twist action on the legs locks, not very easy to do quick adjustments, locking clasps would be better. At the end of the trip the screw connecting the head to the legs, came unscrewed completely and got lost in the dark one night.
