Comments about Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip:
I'm a filmmaker that uses this mount in conjunction with the Sennheiser ME series microphones. It works beautifully, there is no noise created by the mount and it holds the mic securely so that I don't have to worry on set about my expensive microphones crashing to the floor. I love the knob compared to other models with a plastic handle that turns - feels much more sturdy. This thing is robust and does the job as it's intended. If you've already got an expensive microphone, protect it with this pistol grip.

Comments about Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip:
I teach high school students who, generally, are not very critical of their audio quality when shooting, especially outdoors. The Softie not only looks cool to them, but it really takes out several levels of unwanted audio. Great stuff!

Comments about Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip:
I wasn't sure if I needed this thing, but now that I have it, I know it's good. This item is useful when you are in tight spaces that won't allow for a boom pole, it's much easier to use than a boom pole (not to mention really light) and what I did NOT know when I bought it is that you can screw mount it onto a boom pole and use it as a directional mount for the mic! That alone is worth the price. If you are setting up a flexible audio set for your low budget shoot, I would totally recommend this product. Oh, and the boom pole mount isn't some chinsey plastic thing. It has a proper metal screw in mount. Looks like bored brass to me...

Comments about Rycote Medium Hole Softie Lyre Mount & Pistol Grip:
I am not a professional videographer. I make short films and I do it on a small, sometimes tiny budget. I was looking for a pistol grip for my shotgun mic and researched what was available in my price range. I ended up buying the Rycote Pistol grip and I am very happy. It is reasonably priced and works very well. The somewhat universal mic holder makes me confident that the mic will never fall out and the shockmount, though simple, works really well. The nut that you loosen to change the angle of the pistol grip is good enough but not great. I think of all of the parts of this unit this is the weak point. I can see it failing in a couple of years (not sooner hopefully) from use. For the money this is a great piece to add to your your tool box if you are an aspiring filmmaker sound recordist.

Nice! This mounts easily, and is lightweight, especially with the new hole in grip / vs. previous models.
High quality gold plated XLR included as well. I bought this in the kit with the softie. They work well together.
