Tivoli Model One Henry Kloss AM/FM Mono Table Radio - White/Silver
If you're looking for performance and simplicity but have little space then the Tivoli's Model One Table-Top Radio in White and Silver will suit you just fine. This model recalls a simpler time when things looked easy and felt comfortable. But behind this sleek exterior is a thunderous technological boom of quality in sound. A furniture-grade, handmade wood cabinet works as an acoustically inert housing unit. The heavy-magnet, long-throw 3" driver works hand in hand with a multistage frequency contouring circuit that adjusts the output over half-octave increments. All of this technology gives you a musically accurate tonal balance with base response that is stunning.
Model One has also borrowed liberally from other technology to create the best radio on the market. Using cell phone technology, a GaAs MES-FET mixer is used for FM tuning to increase clarity and enhance reception. The geared-down 5:1 tuning ratio adds to the ease and accuracy of channel tuning while the amber tuning light keeps track of your channel selection.

For mono, sound quality is excellent, as expected. Speaker throws sound quite far considering its small size. Nice, compact design. Only qualification is AM station separation is only fair ( a common Florida problem) so AM tuning is touchy and for my wife's 91-yr old mother, difficult.

I've been wanting to buy one of these for a while now and finally got around to it. The sound quality is much better than other table top radios I've heard. At [$], it's certainly not cheap for a radio, and you could buy a small portable stereo with CD player and get stereo sound; but I think you would enjoy the sound of the Tivoli better. It's mono and not stereo, but it has a much richer sound quality than cheap portable stereos, and it has the best tuner you will find in a small radio. In fact, the whole radio speaks quality...very well built. If you want a radio for your desk, kitchen, work area, etc., I don't think you will be disappointed with this radio. Nobody else builds them like Tivoli nor sound this good.
