Let me begin by saying that i am no audiophile but I appreciate good sound enough that I outfitted my comp with the Xfi class of soundcard. That, paired with my 20 yr old Sony compact stereo, satisfies my audio cravings. The HD 202 is for those times when i need to blast music without bringing the house down and i find it very satisfying. I listen to Indian bollywood music, some 80's Western stuff and some Latin. I enjoy music with crisp highs and lotsa bass. The 202's are very clear at max volume although the bass gets a little murky listening to mp3's ripped @ a lower bitrate. I try to rip my music at a variable bit rate or i use windows lossless sometimes. (Haven't really played with FLAC though.) Mp3's ripped above 192kbps sound decent with the HD202 and those at 239kbps sound great.I can easily differentiate the quality of the rips between wma and the super rip included with the xfi cards. Although i find that the best combination for me is my 20yr old sony system and my xfi card, this comes a close 2nd. Just checked the 202's with my Sony hometheater amp model str de 597 i could turn up the volume to 50% before distortion sets in. Now for the cons ears are painful after an hour or so although i have to admit that i do have large ears but i have a small head :)the cord is still the old fashioned Y type no single sided cord but does come with a nifty cord reel with clip.So overall i am pretty happy with it but wish it could handle higher volumes better.

Great sound and good price!!!!
I use in my home studio.
It is very comfortable, there is balance between mid and hi frequency. But there is very emphasis at low frequencys too. This is not good.

I'm using them at home with the comp, but they're also great outdoors thanks to the closed design. They're lightweight but grip your head well so I could see these working fine while on the move. They're surprisingly balanced for this class. Easily one of the best in this very low price-range.

Nice sounding phones for [$]! The HD202's review elsewhere very well and I see why. The only issue I see is the they're promoted as circumaural, but they're not. The phones sit on top of your ears, but comfortable. Great buy!

I use these headphones in a sometimes noisy office environment and their great for keeping outside noise to a minimum -- and offer great audio quality too. I'm extremely happy with the value of this purchase.

Comments about Sennheiser HD 202 Circumaural Closed Back Hi-Fi or DJ Monitoring Headphones:
I bought these on the advice of a DJ friend of mine & I'm not disappointed! The sound is "warm" without losing its crispness, a nice bit of aural candy. The earpads are comfortable and don't add pressure or make the ears sore-this may or may not be the case with people with larger ears-so I would suggest testing them out first. I listen to headphones at work for hours, so this is a very important factor for me. I wish the headband was sturdier, thinner, and perhaps foldable or more compact. I would also suggest Sennheiser add a volume controller to the very generous cord of the HD202. All in all, a solid set of headphones that sound great & won't cost an arm or leg: what's not to love?

We use this product in our Brain Fitness Center, so they receive pretty heavy daily use from a variety of people listening to cognitive training exercises at computer workstations. These Sennheiser phones are durable, and comfortable. They are adjusted daily to fit a large number of different sized people. They hold up well, and provide excellent sound transmission quality. I would highly recommend them.

A great sound for the price, yes you can spend monies for high end but if an everyday user why risk damaging something expensive. I use these on computer, iPhone, portable satellite radio as well. I've bought ear buds before and yet I never find them comfortable to wear, not to mention they are not good for listening, those type tend to do more damage to your hearing.

I bought my first one about 3 years ago and liked it so much I'm buying another one. I am a videographer so I use them with my camera as well as with my iPod and while traveling.

Admittedly, I am not an extreme audiophile. However, I can say these headphones are comfortable, and highly functional. I like the sound. Additionally, I used these on a flight with my iphone white noise creator and completely drowned out a crying baby a few rows back. For the price, I think you'd be hard pressed to find better headphones of this style.

I also own the Sennheiser 201 model and got this 202 for the office based on the comfort and decent sound of the 201. The 202 fits quite differently and cups/seals the ear much more snugly (a little less comfortable for me, but blocks ambient sound better). The over-the-head bridge is a little less sturdy than the 201. BUT, the sound quality of the 202 is outstanding. Very strong bass and clear treble. All-in-all, im happy.

Great product, the ear pillows are very soft. Cheap price and I greatly recommend them for their great bang for the buck. The only downside is that they do not fold to make for a compact size.

I use these with my laptop and also my mp3 player. The sound quality is great! One drawback is that, compared to my earlier creative earbuds, these are not loud enough. Also, prolonged use gives me a slight pain in the earlobes. But, I am in love with them and highly recommend these to a casual user like me. They are a steal for [$] bucks!

I use these everyday at work to block out the surrounding noise. The sound quality is awesome, the comfort level is amazing, and the value is excellent.
Only thing I don't like, and I imagine this is true for all headphones this style, is that my ears get warm.
Would have no problem recommending this set to anyone.

I use this set of headphones mostly while tracking. I am a studio engineer. I like these also because the bleed it causes into the microphone when tracking vocals due to the design. I would recommend this item to anyone who is serious about audio engineering and just starting to build their studio. They are inexpensive, very durable, and sound great in most all applications.

These are good headphones for the price.
However, they can be uncomfortable if you wear them for a long period of time.
Most headphones that provide a seal are that way.
