Link Electronics PCE-845 Closed Caption Encoder

The Link Electronics PCE-845 is a Closed Caption encoder for NTSC and PAL systems; data channels and text select are offered for user selection. The required input signal is composite, component or Y/C video; this unit will then insert caption data on line 21 of field one or field two.

LED Read Out
Four LED's indicate encoding on field 1 or field 2, video presence or field 1 detection..
Encoding
Encoding can be NTSC, PAL, on field 1 or field 2 of line 21; this encoding works well with the old system and with updated FCC specifications. The unit is compatible with PAL closed caption, and caption data is usually inserted on Line 22 of field one.
Future Encoding
This device will meet future requirements of inserting data on lines 10 through 25.
Application
This device is useful when a monitor without a Closed Caption decoder is used in broadcast monitoring; this device can be mounted close to the monitor because of its compact size.
RS-232
Remote can be operated via RS-232 and a PC; an RS-232C input/output is provided for data transmission as well.
Test
A test function is actuated with a front panel button; this test signal places a text message on line 21 to confirm proper operation.
Rackmountable
This unit was designed to fit in a 1 rack unit space.
