Manfrotto's hexagonal 625 RC0 system quick release adapter is designed as a heavy duty addition to any existing tripod head. It comes supplied with both 1/4-20" and 3/8"-16 threaded connection sockets, and also includes two "set" screws (to attach directly to legs). The camera connection is either via 1/4-20", or with 3/8" stud provided.

The RC0 has a new name for simplicity's sake, but has been a mainstay in Bogen's lineup of products for many years. It gives lots of surface area to connect the camera to the quick release.

The list of plates available for the RC0 system is thorough and exhaustive-there's the larger 3/8"-16 threaded camera screw if you need it, flat-bottomed plates allowing cameras to be set flush upon tables with their plate attached, an "architectural" plate with an adjustable anti-twist lip to prevent twisting of the camera on the plate when in the vertical orientation, an anti-theft plate with incorporated metal cable to tether to something immobile nearby and a plate with a very large 4 x 4" surface area for large format cameras. There's even the special 340 elbow bracket, which allows you to change between horizontal and vertical orientation without moving the head itself.

I have two Manfrotto 468MGRC4, ball heads, which I acquired mid 2005. But I converted both to 468MGRC0. Reasons: the 340 right angle brkt; and in 2009 I acquired a 229 Super Pro pan & tilt head. The advantages of being able to swap QR plates, between various heads, is obvious.

But how well does it work? I have used this system, which is built-in to the 229 Super Pro head without incident. This pan & tilt head is used only for a heavy camera and lens combination. The Mamiya RB67proSD. Locks securely and releases easily. Requires some practice.

If your looking for just a quick way to attach your camera to the tripod this is it. I would not use this for detail work as it is almost impossible to get the camera to the same position ever time you put the camera in the bracket.
I really like them and have about 4 or 5 but I would not recomend this for for table top work.

Comments about Manfrotto 625 (3296) RC0 Hexagonal Quick Release Adapter Set:

I've purchased several of these adapters over the years to fit film and digital SLRs on various copy stands and animation stands. The quality (and the price) has remained essentially constant over that time, except the current version is better, since it now incorporates two bubble levels.

Used for video camera Sony Z7U. Works great just make sure you have the two front sections in place before clamping down. A photographer shooting next to me failed to do this and elevated the camera on a monopod, it was cool looking crashing to the ground but he almost needed heart compressions! Double check your connection to the base!

This adapter is a bit tricky to get used to but once you've done that, it is strong and stable and does the job it's intended to do.

I have been using this mount for 3 years.
It is off and on the tripod several time a day.
You have to be very careful it is fully locked in.
My 1Ds MKIII has fallin off twice both times braking my 2,000 dollar L series lens off the camera.
Fed up with this mount. Replacing it NOW!

Comments about Manfrotto 625 (3296) RC0 Hexagonal Quick Release Adapter Set:

I had an old Beseler enlarger that was gathering dust and I decided to turn it into a copy stand. I removed the enlarger head, added a small metal plate to the bracket that the enlarger head was mounted to, and attached this adapter to the center of the plate. After a fresh coat of paint, the finished product looks great and functions as anticipated. [...] A comparable copy stand would have cost between $480.00 and $620.00. I'll probably get one or two more of these adapters for other projects I have in mind.

I NEEDED TO MOUNT A SMALL VIDEO CAMERA ONTO A SUPER BOOM. THERE MAY BE A BETTER WAY BUT USING A BOGAN SUPER CLAMP HOLDING A SHORT GITZO CENTER POLE WITH A BALL HEAD ATTACHED WAS MY ANSWER. THERE WAS ONE PROBLEM. THE BALL HEAD IS TOO HEAVY. I NEEDED THE HEAD WITHOUT THE BALL. THAT'S WHAT I GOT. JUST WHAT I NEEDED !!
