Since most have given quick reviews, I will tell you what makes this product stand out. It gives the printer a better over all development of fiber based prints. It has the needed kick when you wish to extend developing times for shadows and high lights. Which also adds the extra tool of extending developing times to enhance prints. I use this product when I make final prints since I can better control the print quality through developing time and not just enlarger exposure time.

Consistent But Can Expire
Develops consistently, but I found particulate pretty quickly after a small lapse in the use of my darkroom.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
works for me. Good for multigrade paper. mix as recommended on packaging. make sure to mix half first, add more water then add rest of powder and continue to mix. can mix with cold water, but will mix faster with hot water-- however you will probably have to wait the next day to print with a hot water mix.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
Powder form stores well until you need it. I like to dilute it 1:3 and develop RC paper 1 minute, fiber base paper 2 minutes.
If you want to keep it a long time, divide the solution into four fully filled 1 liter bottles.
Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
good developer cheap and easy to use

I use Dektol 1 to 1 when making prints on Ilford's MGFB warmtone paper. I process for 3 minutes and get very satisfying results.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
I have been using Dektol for my print processing for five years now and have found it to be remakably consistent on a variety of papers. It also is a very good value as you can process hundreds prints for each gallon of solution.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
I tested 12 papers and 12 developers several years ago. Dektol consistently ranked near the top, and came out radically less expensive to use than its competitors. Cool print tone, flexible, easy to mix, relatively benign, readily available. A good choice as a "standard" developer.
Hint: I mix a gallon, then decant it into 16 oz. bottles. That way, I have "single servings," which I dilute 1:2, that last a long time, so there's no waste if there's a long time between printing sessions.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
Dektol is always consistently developing my Ilford papers well. I usually leave it in the tray overnight and use it the next day and it still works perfectly. This is the best paper developer to get. My only problem with it is it takes a while to mix it at first. I wish it came in liquid like some of the Ilford chemicals.

I have been using Dektol for years and I have never been disapointed. Good results and when using the 1:1 dilution or higher.
I read that you can use it on film too, but I never tried it.

I use Dektol with Kentmere paper. The combination yields clean blacks, bright whites, and nice mid tones. I tried many paper developers, but I have now settled on Dektol.

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
Great developer however it is the only one I have ever used! never had a problem with it. The instructions could be a little better if you don't know what your doing, but i managed fine. Just make sure that you stir it until the white flakes are gone!

Dektol is a great black and white paper developer. I have had no problems with it, and the prints turn out very consistent and with a beautiful warmth that you don't see in commercially developed prints. Dektol is just another one of those wonderful chemicals from Kodak!

Comments about Kodak Dektol Developer (Powder):
After trying out several liquid developers, I'm back to Dektol, and sticking with it. Better tray life than anything else I've used, with great tone on Ilford Multigrade and Oriental. Best at 1:2 for 2-3 minutes.
