Impact Multiboom Light Stand and Reflector Holder - 13' (4m)
This is an Impact Convertible Boom Arm/Light Stand. As a light stand, it can support a small or medium light head to a height of 13' (4 m). Raise the second section completely, click, and it is a boom stand.
As a boom, it can hold a small light head to an extension of almost 3' from the center of the stand.
It is a reflector holder by means of its two clips, which can support an Impact, Flexfill, or Photoflex light disc as large as 60".
A hole at the end of the arm allows an optional counterweight to be hung, for greater stability.

1. Loosen the large long handle in the middle of the stand.
2. Loosen the top-most section of the stand. Pull that section all the way up.
3. Pull! - swing it horizontally for the boom feature, and lock it for the desired setup.

I was in search of an inexpensive green screen that was portable and found this bundle of a collapsible, reversible green/blue screen that seemed to fit my needs, and it came with its own stand, how perfect.Well the stand wasn't designed specifically for the green screen. That's when I went through the box in hopes of an instruction sheet and instead found a spring and a knurled insert that apparently belonged in the cavity in the handle. Once I figured this out the handle worked correctly.Next was discovering how the boom arm had to come out all the way before it could be pivoted and ajusted. I'm sure this would be second nature for a seasoned professional but I'm a newbie and this was not immediately apparent.The clips don't easily grasp the green screen. This is because the screen's frame is flex-steel that is about 1/2" wide, but, with a little effort it is doable. I quickly realize that the screen is too heavy for the stand to support from the side. That's when I realize that the hole on the other end of the boom is probably meant to be an anchor point for some type of counterweight (again, a newbie issue).The stand appears to be well made and is probably excellent for the use it was designed for. I expect to find it usefull for a number of things. It would be great if there were a bag for carrying it or perhaps an optional case.The cons were [...] the lack of an instruction sheet with a parts assembly and breakdown diagram. The user is left to discovery everything on their own.Had there been an instruction sheet and a fabric storage bag I would have considered giving it 5 stars.

This stand broke before I could use it. The design is poor. Before I was able to actually use the stand, the threads in the body of the stand that a tensioning screw threads into, stripped out.
As a mechanic I feel that I am qualified to comment on the durability of fasteners and threading a metal 'T' screw into plastic is only going to last so long. The screw threads that failed are the ones used to tighten the legs into position. If you plan on buying and using this stand, do so only if you plan on leaving it in one place. If you plan to open and close it more than a few times, pass.
I found this stand heavier than I expected, which for me detracted from its value.
The reflector arm is more complex than it needs to be to attach a reflector. Since I was able to return the item to B & H and exchange it for the Norman stand with arm, I can assure you, the Norman is more secure and many times less complex. Lighter too.
The arm clips are a conundrum. While they are substantial from a clamping (spring strength) point of view, since they are 3" long and straight, they don't hold the curved reflectors properly. The faces of the clamps are rubber (or silicone) and grooved but can't be made to completely grip the curved edge of a reflector. In my initial examining of the stand and reflector set, I found the clamps awkward and too close to the arm itself making it hard to attach a reflector.
To summarize, I originally found the cost of the stand, arm and reflector set too irresistible to pass up, and while the package seemed too good to be true, I bought it anyway. I sent it back (it is so great to shop at B & H because of great policies like theirs for returns) and ordered the Norman equivalent. Better arm and stand. Spend the extra and buy it once.

I have used the multiboom light stand / reflector holder to hold 32" round reflectors and to suspend lighting above models and products (most often a motorcycle).
The boom is sturdy and easy to setup and breakdown. The pre-drilled hole at the end of the boom allows for quick application of an appropriate counter weight. The legs are wide enough for adequate support even when full extended. As the boom arm is relatively long and made from thinner metal (for low weight and easy storage) it does tend to bow downward with a 20" soft box and light attached at the end (which is to be expected). However, I still am able to suspend the light eight feet from the ground.

Turns into a little boom stand very handy for about just about everything (wish it had a little counter weight for the boom)

For the price it's not bad.
Useful for indoor controlled shoots with reflectors or smaller lights.
I would recommend purchasing a sandbag to hold down the stand as it can be quite light and can be easily bumped around.
It's very light so easy to move around if you're shooting outside your studio.

I use this to hold my reflector in front of my off-camera speedlite as I shoot. I experienced initial difficulty in articulating the boom arm until I realized it was stored down the primary shaft and has to be completely pulled out before it can articulate. Smooth sailing after that.

I shoot video and got this primarily for holding diffusion during outdoor interviews.
I was impressed with this stand. It's not super rugged, but it's a nice middle range. Worked well holding diffusion over tallent in sunlight. The base spreads nice and wide to help keep it from tipping (but definitely needs a sandbag if you're outside). I wasn't expecting this, but there's even a 1/4" 20 screw at the end, which makes it great for using as a light weight mic boom for interview setups. The other end has a 1/4" 20 female thread and I could easily see screwing in a hook to hang a counter weight.
The joint of the boom is well designed. It and the locking handle are metal, which is a plus.
My only real complaint is that the clips for attaching reflectors, though nicely rubber tipped so as not to tear fabric, are pretty flimsy. The metal parts can bend very very easily. Extra care is needed in this area when attaching your diffusion.
I'll probably buy a few more of these.
They are definitely can't support a ton of weight, and they're not as rugged as c-stands (or even some light stands), but are very compact, light weight, and easier on the knuckles! They can't replace everything a c-stand can do, but they sure can take over some of the lighter duty work.

This... "contraption" is the Swiss Army Knife of photo lighting gear. If you've got a fully equipped studio and are shooting every day, you'll probably wish you'd paid more for a more durable rig, but if you're careful with your equipment and looking for the most bang for the buck, this is a perfect choice. Light stand, reflector holder, background support, hat rack, you name it & this will probably fit the bill. I have no financial interest, but I do wish I'd invented it myself.
Some of the other negative reviews talk about not knowing how to make it work. There's a clever joint that allows the boom to slide into the bottom section. Don't let those reviews discourage you. Once you figure it out, you'll be thrilled with how well it works and how compactly the unit stores because of that feature. A storage BAG would be nice, though.

I love this Light Stand/Reflector holder, at first I was not sure if this would suffice for my needs but it does completely and more! I use it mostly as a reflector for fashion and portraits.
