Small and lightweight, Sony's Lithium-ion batteries can be charged or discharged at anytime without developing memory effect. This means they never lose their ability to hold a full charge. They also display remaining battery time on the LCD as well as in the viewfinder by continuously communicating with the camcorder. InfoLithium battery packs have a built-in micro processor that accurately calculates remaining battery life in minutes.

I would recommend that any Sony camera owner gets one of these since the battery life is just incredible. You can sometimes get a whole day of shooting out of just one charge! And the LED's on the back are just awesome. I have two of these, and quickly tapping the buttons to see which has more charge is an invaluable time-saving convenience.
I do have one large complaint, however. Using this battery with the Sony HVR-A1U is a pain, because it makes access to the viewfinder very difficult. If you want to press your eye up against the viewfinder (which of course you do ... that's the whole point), the battery will be jamming into your cheek. There isn't any easy way to get around the problem.
While I'm glad to have these batteries as backups, I am going to purchase the next size down so that I can shoot without this annoyance.

I bought the Sony HVL20DMA Video light and this was the battery that went with it. I like that I can push it at any time and know how much battery life I have left. I chose this particular light over a different model of what seems to be the same light because the charger for this battery was cheaper and overall saved me like [$]However, I am a bit nervous because this battery seemed to die relatively quickly (~3-4 hours). Maybe the other version has longer battery life.

This is to back up the smaller battery that came on our HVR-A1U. I have used it once so far and it performed as expected. The readout feature should be handy.

Comments about Sony NP-QM91D M Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (7.2v, 4140mAh):
I use this on a Sony A1U, it hangs out an awful lot but it 'thinks' that it can go for 6 hours on a charge. I haven't used it for that long but I'm sure it can handle 3-4. In general I've had mixed results with InfoLithium batteries from Sony. Some have died and don't seem to hold a charge, but most are pretty good. The only thing I don't like is how expensive these batteries tend to be, but I would rather buy name brand than some no-name to save a few bucks.

I use this battery to power my HVL-20DMA Dual On Camera Video Light. I upgraded from a previous light and battery set. For some reason there is a 3 second delay from when I hit the on button until the light actually turns on. Not sure if this is due to the battery or the light. However, I do like the LED indicator. No more guessing how much battery life is left.

Though heavier than the original battery this one has invaluable led lights that tell you how much juice is left. Sony should put this on all their batteries.

When you are out on a shoot, the last thing you need is for your battery to run out. This battery is excellent that allows me to shoot more than one project before having to recharge.

I had a few old batteries and realized I was playing musical chairs with them. I had a job coming up that was outdoors away from power, so I decided I needed a new battery. I checked the specs and the reviews before I bought this battery and it has out performed even the most complimentary review. It was around 38 degrees the entire 2-day shoot. I used only this new battery and didn't even have to pull out my old-schools. I was extremely impressed with the longevity of the charge.

I bought the np-qm91d batteries so that I could video longer without changing batteries. the battery that comes with the hvr-a1u has a very short life. I also bought the sony charger for the info lithium series and it will tell how much time is left to get a full charge or complete charge. I am very happy with my purchase and buying both products from bh photo saved me a lot of money.

Used to power my Sony A1Us as an alternative to the stock battery provided in the original packaging. Extends run time adequately to safely fill an 85 minute tape with LCD open, using remote zoom control, and sending component out. Need more time with the unit to assess its lifetime.

Used this with my Sony HVR A1U camcorder and had enough power for the full 4 hours +.
Also used it with Sony's HVL-20DM light for 1 hour. Re-charge time is acceptable.

having this extra life battery makes a huge difference when you need your video camera to work and can't always get to a power source. I used this battery on a camping trip, and it our lasted more than a couple tapes worth of shooting. Highly recommended.

We have a Sony-A1U, the batteries were to be desired. Not only one, but two NP-QM91D, are more than necessary to not only get the job done, but to alleviate much needed worries. The push-button charge level works great, and they're thick and sturdy. From one professional to another, trust me, you won't be disappointed.
