I live in Utah and have used these mailers a bit. I used to live right next to the [...] in Santa Monica and went there all the time. I'm only an amateur, but as far as I can see the development of the film is first rate. They are pretty good at following directions about pushing/pulling, sleeving slides, etc. They don't just throw all the b+w film into the same vat and average the time like my local lab does. The prints included are only average; they print b+w film on the same fujicolor paper as everyone else does. The developing/proof sheet mailers are a better value and may be a better option for some. The wait times are also excruciating, but it may just be where I live. I'm talking nearly a month to get two rolls back. One day I'll have the time and means to do my own developing and printing but until then....

I wanted an easy, fast way to get proofs. The prints are ok; skies are printed down showing tones, which I like. I sent 2 mailers in at the same time, one was back in two weeks, the other took a month. This may well have been caused by the postal service.I also requested full frame proofs, the first roll did not have this done. [...]

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for Black & White Film:
I don't understand how there are so many good reviews for this product. I've used this specific mailer 5 times and the results are increasingly bad. Maybe I'm too demanding but, I believe the quality should be much better than prints from low res scans for this price. The scans aren't even clean. I was expecting professional prints for this price. I would have given 1 star but I gave them 2 because they do a nice job of packaging your prints. There is no chance of damage. I most likely won't ever use these mailers again.

I just got a roll of Tri-X and a roll of Plux-X back from A&I. Both were well-exposed and well-printed. They also came with a CD so that I can work with the pictures in my digital imaging software.

Purchased 1 mailer to test the service and quality of the finished product; aside from the 2-week or so turn around time (which I assume is mostly because of the postal system), the quality of the work is superb.

I have used A&I mailers when I want great results. I take a while to see the results; up to a couple of weeks even though I only 60 miles away. But I must say that the prints I get in return are wonderful.

As my darkroom I have been going to for years sadly closed, it is so nice to know there is A & I. I photogragh shelter dogs always in b&w and they do a wonderful job, but, an A plus must also go to B & H. I have been buying all camera related supplies for years and don't know what I would do without them.

Comments about A&I Develop + Prints Mailer for Black & White Film:
Handy to be able to mail film in for processing. Turnaround average, could probably find similar turn around with a local lab, since most mail out the film for processing anyway. Convenience is delivery of my completed processing to my door.
Envelope is picky about ball point pen trying to fill out return information. Does not allow pens to write clearly due to Tyvex material the envelope is made out of.
I would have given a fourth star, but did not as I really feel postage should be included in the purchase price. I should not have to put postage on after already paying for envelope.

B&W gives me a way to express some of my creativity. I do not have a darkroom, but the mailers make quality development a breeze.

The prints I recieved back were very high quality, no complaints.
It took about three weeks to get them back, however, which seems like a long time to me.

I tried with many photo studios to develop my black & white films. Compared to those studios, this mailer always gives excellent quality black & white photos.[...] photos are carefully taken care of. I would recommend this mailer.

A&I sells these mailers direct in minimum quantities of 5, B&H's minimum is one. For those not in the know, A&I's B&W Service is phenomenal and they will even develop obscure B&W films, such as ORWO NP22.

I've never had a problem with A&I, which is nice considering they're the only game in town. Quality is comparable to my quasi-local pro finisher.

I have sent them countless rolls for developing and prints and I have always had great results. The printing and developing quality have been top notch. As much as I like developing my own film for the control you get, nothing beats being able to send them out and knowing they will come back looking great.

Usually I was dropping off my 120 film for processing. By mailing the pre-paid mailer, my turn around time is shorter (by 3 or 4 days) and I don't have to call to see if my film is ready. I comes to my home. Good quality work in the proofs.
