Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
I've had this Octodome for at least 4 years now, always been used in the studio. It gives out a soft broad light and is perfect for fashion shoots. I love how Photoflex included liners and you don't have to buy them separately. I mostly use the silver for my shoots. Coupled with the grid it's one of my main modifiers. The only problem I have with it is that it get's heavy, especially if you add the grid. Even for a Profoto D4 head, it will creep down. So I had to clamp it directly on the speedring and then attach it to the stand. I used to have a White-Lightning 1600Ws attached to it full time, but the mount on that light would just give up. I probably would not buy this product again, but If I have to and if money is a bit short then I will. All in all a great value for the money and the quality is great!

Go from specular to super soft quickly and easily. Step in front of it for some very nice flat ringlash type light.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
Needed a large softbox for single light setups, and loved the effect of the Elinchrom Octabank. While not as soft, the price is definitely right! Would purchase again.
A few things I noticed
- The internal reflector lining isn't flush to the back of the softbox. So half of the flash tube is sitting below the reflector lining. Im sure it cuts down on some of the efficiency. 4 rare earth magnets inside and outside took care of that.
- Not as soft as Octabank because flash is facing forward instead of back into the softbox. But the size softens it up enough.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
I bought this for my new studio... good thing I have 12 foot ceilings. I knew I wanted the biggest softbox I could find, I found it and then didn't really consider just how BIG it was. Think twice about the size before you order... it does create a beautiful softlight and works perfectly as a one light show! Also, make sure you have a strong second set of hands to put it together.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
I've only done a couple of shoots with the 7' Octodome but I love it! The dispersion of light is wonderful. The first shoot I did with it was at an event. I placed the box behind me to create a shadowless light. It worked exactly like I wanted and the shoot was successful. The second shoot was full body portraits and it gave me exactly the look I was expecting from it. An even, soft look from head to toe.
At 7', it does take some room to use. I would also say that it takes two people to easily set up. Getting the velcro tabs to loop over the end of the poles is tough and is easier if a second person bends the pole. One thing that I don't understand is that it doesn't fit back in the carrying sleeve to well. For some reason, the poles are too long. Probably operator error. If used outside, definately sandbag or weight your stand as this thing is a big sail in the wind.
I'm really looking forward to using it for many different configurations in the studio and for my architecture work.

Its a great product for the cost. A little bit tricky when assembling, otherwise great octodome.
Used it on location for a fashion shoot. Great light coverage; love the silver interiors. U need a great amount of power to let it shine at it's entire splendor. The double diffusion might be too much, but good if you want a even light from center to the edge.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
It's very well constructed & feels sturdy.
It's pretty easy to assemble and mount. But do consider it's really big! It takes a lot of space and it does require a good and strong light stand..
I would dare to say it's limited only for a big studio.
I'm using it with a 1000watt Bowens head and works well.

I use this in my studio. It spreads soft even light, simulating a large window for full length shots. Because of it's size, mounting on the strobe has to be solid and the mounting mechanism for the strobe must be sturdy enough to hold. Certainly a fabulous addition to a studio.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
I love this octodome and the results I get. This octodome stands alone in the studio and needs no other help from any other light source. The grid is a "must have" so make sure you get that also. You will need a stand like the Bogen 3071B and the caster set 109 to wheel this monster around. This octodome is not for a small studio, you will need at least 10 foot walls. A step ladder helps when installing the grid. Make sure you have a big enough strobe head that will make this beast shine. A 2500 Ws head will work just fine.

Comments about Photoflex OctoDome3 Softbox, Large - 7' (2.1 m) Diameter:
The Octodome Softbox comes in three sizes – I like the Large 7' version because you can use it as singular light source to illuminate portraits, full-length fashion, and inanimate scenes that require soft yet directional lighting with natural round specular hightlights. The Octodome also requires less depth than comparable square or rectangular softboxes. Add a grid surface to focus the light and eliminate scattered fall-off on the background. Octodome is a very efficient reflective source that can simulate sunlight with a front surface grid and warming filter ...
