Works as intended... eliminates the need to use batteries to power your camera when an AC outlet is available. Great for studio work or for downloading pictures from camera to your CPU. Batteries are only good for so many charges and I would rather use them in the field than waste them downloading pictures.

I bought this for my for my 40D with the BG-E2N Vertical Grip/Battery Holder. I really was disappointed because the adapter does not fit into BG-E2N battery compartment. You have to take the whole grip off and re-clip the cameras battery cover back on in order for the adapter to work. But if you don't own a battery grip(recommended) than this is perfect.

The adapter kit worked perfectly. The cord was plenty long enough. I would buy the product again should I need too.

I am head of the animation department at a college, and my department has a lot of stop Motion going on.
We have something like 20 of these, and we use them for long hours, different careless users, and extended sessions. It always works perfectly, and I hadn't have a single problem with it.
Sure purchase

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
I've been doing A LOT of tethered shoots lately with my 50D and a handful of Canon Speedlites (wireless). This corrected the most annoying part of my shoots - charging and changing batteries for a studio shoot! I really hated wasting charges (and time doing it) on my camera batteries.
This little adapter is perfect! I use the BG-E2N battery-grip and these two are designed to work together! Simply stick the battery-shaped end in the left battery slot of the grip, route the cord to the 'notch', and close the door. Now I have full power all day! I shoot tethered anyway, one more cord don't matter. Now I have no worries at all...just keep shooting and thinking about my subjects (instead of battery, memory, etc...)
If you have a cord coming out of your camera anyway and want one less thing to worry about - get this adapter. The cord is long enough to keep the 'power brick' on the floor in most cases. If you want a little more security, plenty of velcro straps and other tether-shooting-tools are available -
I'm very happy with this device. Good build quality, thick cord (with ferrite core thingie to 'clean-up' the incoming juice a little) and takes up less room/weight in my bag than a handful of batteries and chargers!

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
Simple enough to use. Just remove the battery and plug it in. There is a little flap by the battery enclosure that leaves room for the cable to scoot out and still close the cover properly. Works great for long exposures in the cold.
Now I just need a small portable AC supply that I can carry around in my pocket...

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
Canon can certainly come up with a better solution to an AC adapter than the ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit. I could not get the door to close on my 5D MKll once the "battery" was in place - another design shortcoming: having to remove the battery grip in order to access the in-camera battery chamber.[...]Perhaps a solution would be to use rechargeable batteries, Eveready, Duracell, etc to keep from taxing the Canon-supplied batteries (that have a finite amount of cycles) while downloading files or in-studio use. Yes, the same is true with the Duracell's but they cost much less than Canon's.

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
I bought this AC adapter for my Canon mainly to clean the image sensor and not have to worry about the battery being fully charged. But the adapter is useful if you are planning to connect your camera to your laptop or computer to download or work with images. Especially if you are on a trip and do not have a card reader or forget to take one with you. However an adapter should come with the cameras when you buy them.

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
It works well with my D50. It is something I wish I had known existed earlier, but it was also something I never really needed as I mostly worked in conditions that weren't conducive to power corn bound cameras.
What can I say? It is a glorified power cord. Useful for when you don't want to worry about the battery charge.
The main downside I encountered is telling people "watch the cord". I know it is like telling a boater "you may get wet", but it is something I've had to do enough to warrant a mention.

Durable construction and consistent output make Canon's ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit a great addition for any studio setup. I use this unit to power a 5D mk I during long duration time-lapse exposure sequences when batteries simply cannot last.

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
I was concerned the battery door might not close properly. I usually use the camera screwed to a mounting plate. The door closes fine. The camera mounts normally. Now I can keep the camera on for hours without having to stop and re-charge the battery. It would be nice if Canon routed the cable out the back of the EOS 30D instead of the front. But its not a huge problem..

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
I bought this for a 5D Mk II and it doesn't fit. The part of the adaptor that is shaped like a battery is actually a little longer than a genuine canon battery so it does not allow the battery cover to close all the way. Also, you need to awkwardly bend the power cord and jam it into a narrow side slot to make way for the battery cover to close. I was surprised that a Canon-branded part which lists compatibility with the 5D wouldn't work with the 5D. I use the 5D for video shoots and when the battery dies, the current clip is lost. I am now looking for another manufacturer that hopefully makes an AC Adapter Kit for the 5D.

AC adapter for 50D great for indoor studio type work. Between live view and time spent setting up,there is no problem with the battery running low, or needing to be switched.
Nothing flimsy about the product - heavy duty wiring, solid feeling transformer.
Does exactly what it is supposed to.

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
Chances are good that if you're running AC, you're also running USB, video and/or a timer remote. It would have been nice, then, to have all those lines exiting a common point on the camera. Instead, this thing squirts out the bottom of the camera between the battery door and the lens. It also prevents the battery door from closing flush with the body, which might interfere with some plates or custom mounts.

Comments about Canon ACK-E2 AC Adapter Kit (100-240V):
Used for timelapse photography. You can have your camera running for months. I don't like that it uses the same connection as your battery (unlike Nikon's solution), so you are not insured against power failure.
