This is a good solution to a design flaw of the camera--a view finder that is flush with the back of the camera. Notice that the pro bodies have a built in extension... I miss that about my 1D mark II...
I'd like it just the way it is, but I took the advice of another reviewer and removed the plastic lens elements. Just remove the two screws, then take out the two plastic lenses and the metal plate holding the lenses. Screw the eye-piece together without these pieces, and you have an extender that doesn't diminish the magnification of the view finder as much. Also, this mod eliminates glare on the view finder when the sun is to my back.
This modification takes a minute at most, and it doesn't take any more time to put it back "the way it's supposed to be," if you don't like it.
This custom mod. makes the extender fit tighter to the camera, so there is no danger of it falling off. But even without this modification, there is little danger of loosing the eye-piece as some reviewers say. It fits on as tight as the normal eye-piece, and unless you are in the habit of throwing your camera around, it won't get knocked off ever.

I witnessed a friend using the EP-EX15 Eye Piece extender and thought I would try it. After getting it, it took a while to get use to it. I did not like it at first, becasue I only purchased one and I did not have one on my other camera and it was hard to use considering only one camera had it on it and it was hard to go back and forth. After giving it a chance and purchasing another one for my other camera I like it. It is great when you have a vertical grip extender and especially when you want your face and cheek away from the camera and do not want sweat and smudges off the LCD Screen. I do not like the fact it reduces your field of view and takes a few minutes to recompose your shot, but once you get things in line, you are on your way to taking great pics. I do not understand the reduction in field of view, but over all it works great.

Having to in the past continually clean the back of the camera and also being a wearer of specs, I have found this item to be well worth the money. It fits well and there has been no problems with it being loose or not properly affixed.

A real necessity to keep the LCD clean from nose smudges! I also found the extender to be very useful when I am wearing my glasses. Simple and easy to install.

have this on my 60d. had the mk ii version, but it was too small. this is the one that fits. since the image in the viewfinder is reduced it allows me to see the whole picture better, without having to shift my eyes from one spot to another too many times. and my face isnt smudging the screen all the time. maybe just the tip of my nose. though when focusing manually maybe prove to be a bit more difficult.

I've always been bothered by smudge marks on the screen of the 5Dii. I saw this on a friend's camera and tried it out. Right after that I ordered one. There is a slight downside in that it is harder to see the bottom information bar and it is slightly harder to use in bright sunlight. Also, there seems to be a slight curvature on the edges. For me, these are overshadowed by the fact that the screen is always clean. If exact perspective and seeing the bottom bar are imperative, you might want to try one out first. But after two or three pictures i can compensate for these minor flaws; Really good for eyeglass wearers.

This eyepiece works great for my 50D and keeps my face off of the back of the camera. I pulled the lens out of it initially to retain the size of the image in the viewfinder and it worked ok like this, but replaced the lens and once I got used to the smaller size I like it much better. I did tighten up the two tension spring prongs to allow it to hold tighter and it is rock solid.

This simple little piece really helps keep yor LCD screen from getting smudges. After installing it I find that very few times my nose will touch the screen. I didn't really notice much diffence in detail while looking through the extender. Be careful because even though it fits on snug if you take it off it could very easily get lost.

Comments about EP-EX15 Eyepiece Extender for Select Canon EOS Cameras:
I primarily use this eyepiece extender to allow me to position my face/nose farther away from the LCD, and it works well for that. You just have to take into account that it also demagnifies your view through the viewfinder, which may not be desirable in certain situations. You also must use your existing eye cup.

I recently purchased this for my 50D, I wish I had bought one sooner. I don't have to smash my nose into the camera screen as much anymore with this one the camera. It took about 30 seconds to put on, and it is very secure, no worries that it will fall off.

I have used it for years on my Rebel xti and love it. I wear glasses. I use a large cheap rubber cup attached to it that was left over from my 35mm Canon T70.
I was very disappointed that it does not fit on my T2i. I love it enough that I will buy the upgrade product for my new camera.

Fit my Canon 50D, snugly. The only disappointment I have that the rubber eye piece was not provided. Make sense that if the externder is needed, the rubber eyecup would be nice to have as well (I had *assumed* that it was one complete assembly, since I have never seen a part number for the rubber eye piece).
