Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

Very comfortable to wear around town and on short hikes, holds my camera body, 200-400 5.6 and couple of shorter lenses as well as a shoe mount flash and compact tripod. Only wish i could add a water bladder or had a water bottle pocket.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

I bought my first DSLR with an additional larger zoom, spare battery, addtional memory, and UV filters for the lenses. This bag holds a manual specific to the camera I bought, my wife's digital camera, batttery charger, a pair of binoculars, and has plenty of room for my future flash unit and other gear. The bag is very well laid out and the padding works really well. I haven't tried connecting my tripod to it yet. I know I will use it for traveling, but I used to use a medium sized fanny pack for my SLR and additional zoom lens, spare film, cleaning supplies, etc. At some point I may want to try this again for ease of use when actually using the camera. I do like knowing that my equipment is safe when in the bag. I would definitely advise buying one for the person just getting into DSLR photography who doesn't have several cameras, lots of lenses, etc.

I actually downgraded from a larger, more heavily padded pack that I could barely lift. This pack fits a lot of gear. In it I have a D700, 14-24, 24-70, 70-200, 1.4 TC, battery pack, SB-900 & assorted filters and accessories. It is a lighter pack making it easier to carry all of that gear.

I ran out of space in my Lowepro slingback and based on this website and the reviews I decided to try this backpack.I fit nicely my gear, Nikon D90, Nikkor 50-200, Nikkor 70-300, Sigma 18-200, Sigma 50-500, Nikon Speedlite 600, battery pack, battery loader, filter and memory cards. The mount of the tripod works fine. No problem during day long trekking.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

I have had this pack for 3 years and it is very functional. I have it loaded with a
        1.Nikon D-300 with a 18-200mm Dx lens attached.
        2. Nikon 80-400mm zoom
        3. both lens hoods
        4. Polarizers and Conkin Z neutal density filters
        5. All lens cleaning and chargers and batteries that I need.
        6. It holds my Gitzo tripod securely.
If you store your camera and lenses that you use most in the top of the pack then when the tripod is attached you can still get the camera and lenses out. The Rain shell works wonderfully but cannot be used with the tripod on. However I just hook the tipod leg on the lower portion of the shoulder strap and let it hang there if I need the cover for a torential down pour. If just misty rain I do not use the cover. It is comfortable on long hikes but does not carry other gear. There is a small outer pouch that I use for a light jacket or raincoat.

I have used this pack for about two months now and am well pleased. It has more room than I expected with all sorts of pockets and storage compartments. I was able to fit my Konica Minolta 7D plus 4 lenses plus flash plus several filters (Cokin and screw on). The construction is rugged and the weather cover is a nice touch.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

I have the non-AW version, but I bought a simple silicon coated pack cover and voila, AW. Anyway, the bag is solid and takes bumps and scratches no problem. While my gear gets plenty of wear and tear while I'm using it, it feels not a single scratch when in the bag. Padded dividers are easily movable but stay put when you want them to. Filter/battery/card pockets are of useful size, and I love the exterior organizer for pens, cleaning supplies, and food. The exterior pocket is bigger than it seems and can easily hold a windbreaker and a sandwich. The only improvements I would suggest are the following: the compression straps should not attach to the exterior pocket, but just inside so it would avoid squashing everything in the pocket. More attachment loops on the outside for clipping on water bottle holders/lens cases. Finally, the compression straps go right over any cases you attach to the outside. I would rather see them go just above. Overall an excellent bag, especially for the second hand price I picked it up for. Highly recommended!

Finally I have a place to store and carry all of my camera gear. I am still arranging the compartments, but have been able to get the following packed:
Canon Rebel XT body with 17-85 mm zoom lens with hood
Canon 10-22 mm zoom lens with hood
Canon 70-300 mm zoom lens with hood
            Canon Speedlite 580EX
Miscellaneous filters, cords, batteries, card reader
When fully loades, it is heavy.

This backpack is very light, yet the camera gear is well padded. Great for day hikes. Not a lot of room for other stuff, like lunch, or jackets. A pocket for a water bottle would be nice (as long as it couldn't leak into the cameras). The tripod carrier works well.

I use this for a Canon 5D with 70-200, 24-70 and 100 macro lenses, flash, white balance filters, memory cards and some other small items. It is a great fit for this gear, the bag is well padded to protect the gear. It is comfortable to wear and small enough to manage in a crowd or on a plane.

I have a larger version of this bag that I used to use for my medium format gear, and am holding on to it for the day when I get into digital MF

Not to mention all the other little accessories. Can also strap on a second SB-800 and the tripod and monopod. Having the backpack makes it easier to lug the gear out to the ballfields and any appreciable distance. I also find it more convienent moving the gear along with me as I move while I shoot. Give me a better feeling of gear security.

I bought this bag to handle my gear on a trip of a lifetime, two weeks in Ecuador including 8 days in the Galapagos. I'm 67 years old and needed a practical way to carry my precious equipment under adverse conditions. It easily handled my Leica M3 and M7 with 50mm Summicrons attached, Nikon F3 with 300 mm telephoto attached, 35mm and 90mm Summicrons, 135mm Elmar, 55mm Nikor macro and 50mm f/1.4 plus TC-301 converter. Also carried 76 rolls of film, several filters, cable release, batteries, etc. The pack was easily passed between tour boat, panga and shore. Comfortable on my back and a nice fit into airline overhead storage. I have several other Lowepro bags and this one exceeded my expectations. Access to internal compartments is extremely easy, making lens changes a breeze. It survived the trip with ease and is ready to go again.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

I have had this pack for about 2 years and have traveled with it extensively. The pack is very comfortable and holds a lot of stuff. All the inside zipper pockets are nice for separating out your smaller stuff. The pack itself is water resistant (I've been rained on and the inside stayed dry) and also includes a poncho-like cover that pulls over the entire pack which is nicely hidden at the bottom of the pack.
The only downside I have found to this pack is the tripod support which has your tripod strapped along the center of the back of the pack. Although this distributes the weight of your tripod nicely, it makes it difficult to open the pack without taking the tripod off. Also, the belt loops on the side of the pack only accept other Lowepro accessories and will not take Tamron lens pouches since their loop is vertical which is the same as the backpack.

I'm able to fit my Canon EOS 40D with the 70-300mm lens attached along with speedlight, another lens and extra batteries, cards and various other accessories. It feels like I'm not carrying anything with the way the weight is distributed. I'm looking forward to many fishing outings and sports events with it.

Comments about Lowepro Mini Trekker AW Backpack (Forest Green):

I have used this backpack for three years. I have yet to have a problem with it. It holds my 50mm, 60mm macro, 85mm, and 18-70mm Nikkors as well as a D70, SB-600, and Lensbaby 3G all in wraps or cases for long distance transport. I take them out of the raps for quick access when I am shooting. The outer pocket holds spare batteries, compact cleaning supplies, and compact reflectors. Just for added weight I have a slip lock holder for a 1 L Nalgene. This pushes the limit on what is comfortable weight wise but it still works well. The tripod carrying system is a bit ungainly and must be unbuckled for access to the main compartment. It does work with my mid weight Bogen. It fits under the seat for air travel. The AW cover only works without a tripod but it does work. I have used it in downpours without problems.
