This bracket allows you to attach your Nikon Fieldscope, Sky & Earth Spotting Scope or Night Search night vision monocular to digital point & shoot cameras or video cameras without the need to use a camera-specific attachment ring. But it also is compatible with many other brands of spotting scopes, and if it has been added as a recommended accessory with any item here at B&H you can be assured it functions perfectly as a combination.

In use, the method of attachment provides better rigidity than any of the camera or scope-specific adapters by their lonesome, and rigidity of the unit in ultratelephoto photography is always a battle. You'll need to have the recording device as close to the scope's eyepiece as possible, minimizing the risk of vignetting.

It is also common to have the bracket in a support role to an SLR or point & shoot digital camera already attached to the scope. When doing this, first attach the front of the scope to the bracket and attach the bracket itself to the tripod. Next affix to the camera its scope attachment, and mate this piece with the scope. Finally, use the bracket's rear adjustments to apply the tripod screw to the camera. Once everything's tightened down, rigidity is absolutely awesome.

All ventures in the world of digiscoping require the use of a sturdy tripod, first and foremost. Logical choices for a tripod/head combination are indicated here as accessories, with an ascending order in price & support. You must take great care to keep vibrations during exposure to an absolute minimum. Employing a cable release, electronic release or remote control for tripping the shutter is absolutely necessary.
