Pentax's DCF series of premium roof prism binoculars are available in a few different variants to suit your particular combination of needs and budget.
There's the basic DCF HR, offering just the brilliant optics of the series in a non-waterproofed package which shaves a bit off of the weight and price. Next are the DCF HR II, which add a sleeker design as well as nitrogen purging and O-ring seals for totally impervious waterproof and fogproof protection. Then there are the world class DCF WP classics, available in four variants and all of absolutely stunning optical quality as well as complete fogproof and waterproof protection.
Finally upon the pinnacle rests the flagship of Pentax sport optics, the DCF SP line. These are just a bit bigger than the DCF WP collection but add some fine tuning at a spare-no-expense mentality (such as stellar eyecup design, hydrophobic external lens coatings and better close focusing) for those who simply must have those extremes of performance.
Whether you're looking for the best bang for the buck or are a purist of perfection, there's a DCF roof prism beauty for you that'll likely last a lifetime.

It is great for birding. I had older pair of DCF SP 8x43. Really like the 10 power. I also like the life time warranty.

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
Bought these for wildlife viewing / water proof and fog proof - really love the rubberised exterior. Nice flat field of vision / fast to focus and I really like the built in eye cups that extend or compress. Overall unit is much smaller than I expected - a nice bonus.
Really great value / I did a bit of comparison shopping before landing on these ... and now that I own them and have used them a bit - the reviews are spot on : great binoculars & great features : at a very reasonable price.

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
I purchased these binoculars for bird watching. They are very light weight and the optical quality is great. I'm having a little trouble adjusting them for my eye spacing - hoping this will resolve itself as I become more familiar with them.

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
I use these almost exclusively for birdwatching and they are the best pair of binoculars I've ever owned and I've owned many. The price point on Pentax's line of optics is an amazing deal. These are as clear and bright as many other pair that are up to $1,000 more in price. My priorities of close focus, light-weight, and water/fog proof are pretty standard these days, so it came down to the overall feel and ease. I couldn't be happier. [...]

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
i'm recently get interested in birding. and this is my first binocular. i chose pentax because the pentax binoculars have a very good profile and comparatively lower prices.
judging from my recent experiences with this bino, i would say it provides fairly good optical performance and yet the price is much lower than those german ones. it is super compact - could be easily fit into my national geographic satchel and now i bring it with me almost every time i get to the parks. it also gives me a great user experience in terms of the easiness of using - focusing is extremely convenient and close.
would probably try another bino from pentax when i upgrade my gear.

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
I use it to zero in on some constellations at night and for general use and carrying. Ten power gets you up close indeed and these are bright enough to use in all light conditions. They are not inexpensive, but not over priced for what they offer. Flat field. Good looking and very compact. Best feature is the 6 foot close focus range...that is most useful for birds and checking out the neighborhood and sports events. No regrets since I bought these. I do not use glasses, can't comment on that part...

Comments about Pentax 10x43 DCF SP Binocular:
Here is a SLEEPER binocular, i went to buy the CANON 12x36 IS, after holding them and realizing they felt weird to MY face and how odd they felt adjusting the two eye pieces i started to look at others, well let me tell you Robert at B&H was kind enough to pull out a few binocs in my price range and specs(10x30-42) and then pulled these out of the show case, man ooooh man these are razor sharp, have a great minimum focusing distance and felt superb against my face, the ergonomics were sweet, all the buttons and such were just a breeze, needless to say i was sold, the clarity, the feel, the nice compact size, well you get the point, they are simply excellent and beyond my expectations for a binocular in this mid price range, not cheap, but they wont break the bank. I had read a little about PENTAX glass but never thought that they would be this GREAT, i new that i wanted 10x but did not consider PENTAX, after using these for a while now it is hard to look at others in this class, they simply ROCK. Thank you Robert in the OPTICS department for your great help and info, i am super satisfied and would recommend these to anyone looking at mid range Binocs! I dont use glasses so i can't comment on that subject! Also i was sold on the fact that they are FOG proof and water proof, so when entering exhibits like at the ZOO where climates change all of a sudden these are nice as they stay clear as can be....Ivan!
