SkyMasters are economically-priced large aperture offerings from Celestron. They're great for both astronomy or long-range terrestrial observing.
High-powered binoculars are difficult to hold steady by hand; a monopod(and a tripod adapter if not included with the binocular) with an incorporated fluid pan/tilt head or with such a head attached between the monopod and the binocular is highly recommended.

I've owned 10x50 binoculars since 1976 at the age of 14, and now I've upgraded to high power binoculars to use for astronomy. The Celestron Skymaster 15x70 binocular is a quality made instrument that handles well; and it's 15x magnification really brings the image up close. The 70mm diameter objectives with their multi-coated surfaces draw in plenty of light when viewing at twilight and at dawn. This is a Man's binocular in that it is beefy in appearance and it's weight. I've had this piece of glass for over a week, and I've used them every night to star gaze. I'm please with their performance in resolving distant objects in the heavens; whether planes or faint star clusters. The case is lightweight fabric and the neck strap is a joke; utterly useless in my estimation. The case is fair but should be hardshell to protect the binocular from collimation issues. My binocular shipped fine. Kudos to B&H Photo for their fine customer service and fast shipping of my item. Celestron provides a tripod adapter at no charge with this binocular; and it's okay. You'll need to invest in a heavy duty tripod and more robust tripod adapter if you plan to do heavy duty star gazing and moon observations. Because of the binoculars size and magnification you'll need steady hands to get truly viewable images. I've used binoculars since a teen; and I know something about quality when I see it. You can't beat this for under $100.00. I've owned expensive video cameras; and their optics didn't perform as well as these binocular optics in terms of image resolution and definition due to their greenish multi coatings on the lens. I do wish that Celestron had fully multi coated all lens and prism surfaces. as well as adding fog proofing to this fine line of binoculars. In closing you'll be able to discern thousands of stars in the deep dark skies. You can't go wrong with the Skymasters.
Expertise: Binoculars, microscopes and high end video cameras
Problems Encountered: None, but do protect your lens from smudges.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Minolta Standard XL Wide Angle 10x50 Binocular
Items I Recommend: Heavy duty tripod and adapter, robust neck strap

These are light weight and make a nice 'grab and go' pair of binocs for tracking aircraft as well as locating astronomical objects.
I bought these to replace my Nikon 10x50 so the magnification is good. However, the focus knob doesn't 'feel' so secure and the binocs arrived out of collimation from the factory.
I like the fact that it came with a tripod adaptor. If one can get a pair in collimation and well constructed these can make a nice starter set of binoculars for the price.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
I bought these for astronomy and nature/landscape viewing and they fit the bill nicely. The quality seems better than what I would expect for their low price and though my eyes are not the best any longer (age), I have no trouble adjusting the SkyMaster Binoculars to see what I'm viewing. The size/weight ratio is ok but I am thinking of buying a tripod for star gazing. Otherwise, not to heavy for viewing nature and walking around with. I've already recommended these binoculars to others.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
Very happy with purchase. Unit has crystal clear view and very little abberation at very edges of lens, but for the price, better than I expected. Solid feel, easy to adjust the fit and finish of the package is very good. Details such as the proper fitment of the lens protectors and single finger adjustability show someone paid good attention to the details. Night viewing has been quite good as well and I suspect I'll be pulling up a couple skycharts to be able to id what I'm looking at in the night sky. Would buy again.

This binoculars are a necessary part of the southern astronomy aficionados equipment.
With 15 magnifications, each of the Magellanes Clouds galaxies fits completely in the field of view of the instrument.

I thought I could not buy a great binocular for that price.
I was wrong. This one is really good, I had two ones before.
7x50 and 12x50, This is 15x70 and I thought I needed a tripod but I can still handle it in a good way to have a nice view. A tripod is not mandatory but for somebody could be necessary. It looked like to be heavier than it really is.
The only thing that I don't like is the bag. Should be rigid.

Better 15x70 binnoculars available? Likely, but I haven't seen any better that these for the money. and believ me, I looked. Good optics.
I had a look at M42 (NGC1976) and could easily make out the nebular. Also I could see NGC5139.
I can and have recomened these biloculars.

I've just begun to enjoy the stars and this looks to be a magic way. My birding binocs are much more nice and spendy. . . But don't have near the light gathering possibility nor power as these. The extremely reasonable price point, with bak4 prisms even! meant I just had to give them a go. Thus far I'm delighted-- a fantastic start for exploring the night sky, with the wider field of view that binoculars can bring. For we of less steady hands a tripod is a must, but unlike most birds the stars will just sit there, so it's only a small hassle. A worthy investment.[...]

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
Purchased these primarily for viewing the night sky here in Norway. Purchased a book called "Nightwatch" by Terence Dickinson and already after only owning the prodcuts for a week I have been able to view Jupiter, Venus, the Orion Nebula and numerous other stars etc. They do not provide immense detail when viewing these objects but are powerful enough to see a lot of detail when looking at the moon. Despite the weight I can hold them and freely scan the sky but due to the magnification when looking directly at a star I can notice slight movement from my heart beat or breathing movements.[...].Overall - very happy - 10/10.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
If you want to do some casual night sky viewing, forget the low-end telescopes and get a pair of these 15X70s. The optics are pretty good and you can hand hold them, although a light monopod is helpful. You'll love the views of the crescent moon, Jupiter and Saturn, and in dark skies, the closer big galaxies. Also great for comets! If you go to 20X, the field of view is narrower, the image not as bright, and you'll need a tripod for sure. This is astronomy the easy way. [...]. I think you'll really enjoy these low-cost binocs.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
Very bright & clear view.
I found no need at all to spend the $800 or so for a higher end piece.
The 15X magnification though, is a tad too high for steady viewing without a tripod.
For daytime use I found it just OK to hand-hold so long as you lean your hands on something.
For astronomy where you want to see small objects and details, the image "jumps" too much.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
They gather lots of light even in poluted skies over NYC. Great portability even at 3lbs although the weight can be a bit much on your arms and hands. Focus is very good but you need a steady hand or a sturdy tripod to keep them on target. The tripod adapter is very handy.

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
I bought these to look at the night sky, but I can use them during the daytime too. I could see the craters of the moon with them...wow. Many stars are visible that you can't see with the naked eye.
These binoculars are heavy so I have to lean against things to support them so the movement is minimal. You can attach a tripod, and I will when I find mine. I gave them 4 stars because of the weight and movement. Great Binoculars at a great price!

Comments about Celestron 15x70 SkyMaster Binocular:
For the price, you can't beat these binos for astro-viewing. Comes with a tripod/monopod mount as well, which is nice. I always mount these when I'm viewing as they're heavy and pretty hard to hold still for any length of time. But then most, maybe all, binos get heavier as magnification increases.

I used this binocular to watch moon and other stars.. and i can see moon very closer and bigger with its spots very clearly. Top marks for its portability, durability and this is very simple to use and value for money if you are look some best product as per your budget. The thing which you need is a tripod for stable viewing of object thats the only weakness of this product. I would have no hesitation to recommend this best class product to anyone who is looking to buy binocular in this range.
