Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:
I do use this for mainly portraiture and some General use in which it does a great job. The color I get is superb. I thought at first when I picked it up that it was so light that it was cheap. It's Not! It's a great lens and my only complaint is that it's not the tightest focus on close up or "Head Shots".

I find the lens to be very sharp with good contrast. A great value for [$]. I am very happy with the results on my A850. The lens fits well with the A850 and has a very solid feel. It seems extremely well made and functions very smoothly. [...]

bought for indoor volleyball photos of daughters JO team. Lots of research indicated aperature and lens quality the key for this type of pics. Opted to upgrade with this lens and camera body only. Photos are only as good as the lens you use.

Replaced standard f/3.5 zoom with this lens. Using with a Sony a55v, f/2.8 makes a big different. Excellant quanlity at a significant savings. Would strongly recommend.

I bought this lens instead of the Sony because of the price and i couldn't be happier. Now im sure that if you make your money by taking photos this lens might not be the best choice for you. I highly recommend this lens if you are like me and take photos of family and as a hobby.

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:
Replaces a 24-70 Sigma 2.8 that worked OK on a A100 but not on the A850. There's little comparison on the FF performance, the Tamron is smoother in zoom and focus, smaller and easier to handle, sharper all around and hunts much less in dark shots. The hood is not the easiest to apply. I would buy it again for the price and performance.

I'm still a little neutral on this... the reviews were overall, outstanding. I've been trapped inside my little condo during this cold winter, so I haven't experiemented as much as I would like. I'm hoping my expectations will be met!

I bought the new translucent camera a55 and this lense work very well. It's light weight. The auto focus is super fast. I live at the beach and when I take pictures of seaguls taking off all my pictures came out perfect.

Works great for everything but up close group pictures. Of course that is my fault for selecting the wrong zoom range.

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:
This lens is amazing...sharp even wide open, light weight, and fast to focus on an A900. But the real killer is that this lens is so affordable compared to Sony's 28-70 (a Tamron design as well) and the mega-expensive Zeiss 24-70. Just get this lens and smile every time it's used like I do. I don't mind the plastic even though many claim it feels "cheap". I don't get that feeling holding the lens as it seems quite sturdy to me. The only negative I can comment on is that the focusing ring rotates during autofocus, but you get used to it quickly. I can carry this lens around all day...something you wouldn't want to do with the heavy Zeiss.

I am a retired newspaper photographer and I am now enjoying photography as a hobby.
I just purchased this lens (mainly for the speed f2.8) to replace the kit lens of the a300.
It is very sharp, good contrast and color and heavy enough so you know there is a lens attached (this is good.)
I am using this as a walk-around lens. I plan on getting the 90mm Macro and the 70-200 F2.8 zoom.
I would definitely recommend this lens.

After months of researching I finally took the plunge and purchased this lens. I have mounted on an Alpha 700 and it performs beautifully. I was blown away with how sharp this lens is!! I'm a staff photographer with a rat rod magazine so I shoot with cars and models frequently. The locations range from outside to inside small garages with limited lighting options, this lens has not let me down. Without a doubt this lens is a solid investment that you will enjoy for years to come!!

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:
This lens is very impressive for the price. It costs about a third of the Zeiss lens and can handle the 24 mega pixel sensor of the Sony A900. It focuses quickly and accuratley. Boken is just right when used wide open. It really gets sharper when used at f4-f8. This lens hands down is better than the Sony 28-75 because you get more for your money.

I purchased this lens to be used as a walk around for my Sony 850 and it fits my needs very well. I found it to be very sharp at most settings. A little soft at f/2.8 but improves at f/3.5 and above. Not to heavy and priced right.

Comments about Tamron A09 SP AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Zoom:
I don't really like saying anything about the price of this lens, because it's a great performer at any price. It isn't small, but the f2.8 constant aperture can't be squeezed into a small package. The zoom is smooth, and the lens balances well on my Sony Alpha 850. F2.8 is a little soft, as is f22 (probably well past the diffraction limit), which I believe to be common in most zooms of this type. From f4 to f16, it's very sharp.

Sony FF boom members! Owners of A900 and A850 listen to my voice. First it was created Tamron 28-75/2.8 famous glass sharp and good end to end. Then Minolta bought this lens from Tamron, and after all, Sony purchased it. They made a minor modification (made it 24-70, Etc. But in their lenses (made from plastic too) Tamron made glasses are installed. There are a lot of different comparative reviews – you will not make mistake. The only thing is different - Sony has better quality control (for doubling the price) but Tamron has 6 Years of warranty! My advice – buy Tamron 28-75/2.8 and check it carefully on various zooms and distances, opened and closed Aperture. [...]
