Lowel Rifa eX 44 Pro Kit
This is a Lowel Rifa eX 44 Pro Kit. It's built around the Rifa eX 44 softbox light, and the Pro-light focus floodlight. The Lowel Rifa-lite eX 44 is a compact, self-contained, 16 x 16" (40.6 x 40.6 cm), 250W, collapsible, tungsten/halogen softlight. It uses the unique umbrella-like Rifa design which allows set-up in 60 seconds or less. It's the perfect complement to today's compact, light-sensitive, digital cameras and film stocks.
With its high intensity #2 reflector and prismatic glass, the tiny focusable Pro-light is more efficient than a Fresnel of equal wattage, yet it gives an exquisite even light, with Fresnel-like shadow quality. This kit includes light stands, barndoors, gels and gel frame, 120V bulbs and an R1-82 Tube Case.
Although this kit is supplied for use with 120 AC voltage, it can function with 220-240 AC and 12-30 DC voltage, with the appropriate bulbs, adapter plugs or cables, and power supplies (available separately).
- Use the Pro-light as a low-level key light or accent light, fill light (with diffusion), or backlight
- Use the gels and barndoor set to alter the light output of the Pro-light
- The kit case holds it all safely, including the light stands, for storage and transport

Great quick set up for the soft box. Excellent lighting for my Sony HVR-Z7U camera. Only thing I'd change is including the egg crate for the front of the light for even softer look!

I needed this kit for quick interviews and it fits the bill perfectly. It's easy to transport,it's fast to set up and the subjects look good under the soft box. I use the Pro Light to separate the subject from the background. There are a lot of lighting choices at many price points but this kit is not too pricey and sets up fast - my two main requirements.

The Bad:
I am new to being a one woman TV Show producer. I am use to having interns set up studio [the cameras, equipment, and the lights]. When my equipment arrived I had a hard time the first 2-3 times I set it up to get the hang of it. I couldn't figure out how to open the small lighting system to install the light and was unable to get the larger lighting system to fully open up as per the photo.
The Good:
By the time I taped my 4th TV show, I was a "PRO". My home TV Studio is totally "AWESOME" the lighting is magnificent. My 5th recorded show has the best lighting as I was able to fully figure out positioning to get the best of my "Key" and "Fill" lights. Once you get the hang of this product it is "Phenominal"! People comment that my shows look taped in a professional studio! Also, it is so light, compact and portable! Oh it is awesome! My TV show is no longer limited to the "Public Access TV Studio" it is now mobile, that's right "Mobile"! I find myself using the product to do on the spot interviews of guests. I go to them and set up the lighting and do the interview. This lighting unit has taken my Public Access TV show to new heights! I am seriously considering "NOT" going back into the TV studio due to my new flexibility. This lighting system is "PERFECT" for any small interview or TV show lighting set up and perfect for mobility. I now travel with the lighting kit in its "light-weight", hard and sturdy case [I recommend getting the hard case], a tripod, and my mini dvr.
Overall:
I love this product and recommend it for any small business owner who wants the expensive professional look of big business. Specifically for interviews. It can be disheartening and intimidating at first if your a novice like me, but once you get the hang of it, its perfect!!!
