I used the adapter to attach my 3/8th boompole to my 5/8th shockmount. The thread fits both, as described, and holds just as tight as if I screwed the two pieces together directly. As a note, I ordered from B&H because I could not find this item at several different hardware stores.

Another useful part to always have on hand if you do recording. Easily solves issues between 3/8" and 5/8" mic clips and stands. I use one to mount an SM57 and a shure mic clip to an Audix d-vice rim-mounted mic holder. Perfect solution.
