Comments about Alesis FIREPORT1394 FireWire Interface for HD24:
It's not an option if you own the HD24; it's a necessity since the Alesis software is proprietary. The hot-swappable drives caddy's are a great feature and I couldn't be happier with the HD24 itself. The interface itself is well designed and constructed. I don't want to be tethered to my laptop in rehearsal, or on a gig, and the analog feel- hit play/record and forget it- was exactly what I was looking for. I felt, at first, that the firewire interface should have been built in, but as I began to use the unit I realized- that would defeat the ability to pull the drive and take it back to download, leaving the HD24 in place in our rehearsal studio.
