Apple DVI To Video Adapter for Mac
The Apple DVI to Video Adapter was designed to allow users of the Mac computer to connect (through the DVI port) to TVs, VCRs, or projectors requiring a composite video or S-video input.
Note! This adapter is compatible with MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Power Mac G5 computers with DVI ports.

- Connect your TV, VCR, or overhead projector's S-Video or RCA (composite) cable to your Mac. The video adapter cable plugs into the Video Output port (mini-VGA) built into the back of your computer, so you can show videos on CRT monitors and drive presentations right from your Mac. Use a separate DVI to VGA Adapter for VGA video out for Power Mac G5 (included with all Power Mac G5 systems or available for order as a standalone kit).

I was looking for a way to hook up my spare Mac Mini to my standard CRT TV. This was exactly what I needed. An RCA composite and S-Video cable make hooking it up a simple thing. Quality is about what you'd expect from a non-digital connection, but for my use it was enough.
There is a bit of a delay for the TV to pick up the signal from my Mac, but once the boot process was done, it sparked to life.

It would pay to research your video card before buying this adapter.

In theory this adapter should allow you to connect any Mac with a DVI monitor output to your analog TV or VCR. I was hoping to use it to watch internet content on my living room TV using my first generation intel mac mini. I had tried this before but failed. I figured the previous adapter was a dud. I got two new ones and they both failed. I can see the screen but the TV does not like the signal, so i get roll and grayscale image.
It does work with my MacBook-pro so all is not lost.
Resolution takes a hit, but for movies it works fine with the pro.

I bought it for Rear Screen Projection TV & my Mac Mini late 2007. Works fine except because it's an older TV, & the resolution has to be set at 800X600, it's hard to even Read the screen. Played a Movie & looked fine. But for Internet surfing & email, not that great. I'm going to wait until I get a new TV & hook my Mac Mini up DVI to HDMI.
