Countryman TYPE 85 Direct Box
The Countryman Type 85 is a compact direct box that connects instruments with high impedance pickups, such as piezo pickups to a balanced XLR type microphone input. The Type 85 utilizes high quality components and class A circuitry to ensure pristine audio fidelity and lowest possible noise floor. A ground lift switch further minimizes noise and hum caused by faulty electrical lines. The Type 85 operates via +48 Volt external phantom power or 9 Volt alkaline battery.

Very high quality and durable DI. Sounds transparent and can be used with a 9 volt battery or phantom power. I use it mainly for live sound, DI'ng acoustic guitars and keyboards. I also use it in the studio for the same applications. I have owned two for the last 8-10 years, I believe, and just purchased two more for live sound gigs for a country rock band (acoustic guitars and mandolin), with a DI'd bass. I have no doubt these boxes will do an outstanding job come downbeat time! A truly great sounding and versatile DI for a great price!
