The Celestron Advanced C8-SGT is a fully-loaded scope with an automated GoTo system all ready for your disposal. It has the CG-5 EQ mount for supreme imagery free of jitters which would make even the best of resolving power irrelevant. This combination of aperture, automation and price is terribly impressive.
After a quick alignment procedure, you'll have an impressive database of 40,000 objects at your disposal: just tell the computerized hand control what you want to observe and the scope will do the rest with the light-gathering power of 843x a human eye. There's an optional accessory which aligns the scope with GPS information for the utmost in accuracy; even tiny stars invisible in the finderscope will be nailed the first time!
The StarBright XLT coatings are all that distinguish this offering from the ordinary Advanced C8-SGT. These coatings dramatically decrease the total percentage of light loss incurred by the scope's system of lenses & mirrors by a measure of 43%! Light is invariably lost as it passes through lenses or is reflected from mirrors, and this can have a particularly dramatic effect of deep space objects. StarBright XLT coatings are a highly intensive process which diminishes this effect and brings the faintest things your scope can resolve into greater detail. They'll bring the details of bigger apertures without adding to the weight of your rig.

Comments about Celestron Advanced C8-SGT 8"/203mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit:
The quality is better than I expected, very heavy duty. I've had it out in the country a few times already and goto alignment and polar alignment is a cinch. Just make sure everything is balanced before you start aligning, or you will waste a lot of time wondering what is going wrong. A lot of precision and attention to detail is required for this hobby, especially if aspiring to do astrophotography. That is the main reason I purchased it. I am pleased that I am able to get about 60-90sec exposures without star trailing. I've gotten some nice stacked images of M31, M33, M42, the moon and some other deep sky objects so far. Autoguiding will be required for longer exposures than 90 seconds.
I've also used the scope to take pictures of some bald eagles in town. The 2000mm gets you right up close and very detailed.

Comments about Celestron Advanced C8-SGT 8"/203mm Catadioptric Telescope Kit:
I couldn't be happier. The optics are wonderful. The scope came perfectly collimated. The motors are a bit noisy as I have heard mentioned before but that is the least of my concerns and it is only loud when it is set to slew between settings 7-9. The Nexstar alignment process is simple. It is heavy but that is not a con. The mount is very sturdy and gives you the feel that it was made well. The components were also packaged VERY well and withstood the beating that UPS gave it. I've only had a couple clear nights to take it out so far but the view of Jupiter was very sharp each night.
