The Henry Engineering Matchbox HD is a professional grade analog level and impedance converter, serving as an interface between consumer and professional audio equipment.
The Matchbox HD is a bi-directional unit, employing four independent amplifiers to convert stereo inputs and outputs from unbalanced -10 dBv levels to +4 dBm balanced 600 ohm lines. All four outputs are adjustable, accomodating a wide variety of operating levels.
The Matchbox HD also features a HI GAIN mode to properly match the low-level unbalanced outputs of computer sound cards. The unit's direct-coupled circuitry, and wide dynamic range, provides the sonic transparency, fidelity and level required by the digital editors, DAT's, Hard Disk, Flash Card recorders, and other digital audio sources with which it is meant to interface. The unit has an internal power supply, and 3 units may be rackmounted in a single rack tray, or individually wall and cabinet mounted.

Comments about Henry Engineering THE MATCHBOX HD - IHF-Pro Stereo Interface Amplifier:
All to often we resort to using a simple (or not!) adapter cable between consumer and professional audio products. But levels and impedances can be very different, which may well compromise performance significantly. The Henry Eng. MATCHBOX HD is a professional and foolproof way to interconnect studio-level (+4dBm) program lines with consumer CD/MP3 players, disco mixers, etc. with nominal -10dBV ins and outs. It matches levels and impedances so that quality does not suffer from loading effects or headroom considerations. It's easy to install and set up, and is sonically transparent in use.

Comments about Henry Engineering THE MATCHBOX HD - IHF-Pro Stereo Interface Amplifier:
This is a great product! We have about 80 of them in our studios. Never a failure, and excellent audio performance. I really like the steel chassis. You can put them in a rack and not get hum or noise from adjacent equipment. Some of our matchboxes are 15-20 years old and still work perfectly.

Comments about Henry Engineering THE MATCHBOX HD - IHF-Pro Stereo Interface Amplifier:
I don't know how many matchboxes we have, but it's close to 50. Some old style, many the new rack mount kind. Weve used them since 1990 or so, and they sound waay better than the cheapie immitators! A cool product for sure!

Comments about Henry Engineering THE MATCHBOX HD - IHF-Pro Stereo Interface Amplifier:
We have used Henrys Matchboxes for over 20 years, and they work great. We probably have about 25 units in use 24/7. The audio is excellent, and Im impressed that the unit has a power supply built in, so theres no "wall-wart thing".
Comments about Henry Engineering THE MATCHBOX HD - IHF-Pro Stereo Interface Amplifier:
I was surprised at how cheaply made this item was. It'sreally over priced and poorly designed. If you need to do serious work don't bother with this item.I would suggest picking a similar product from a maker thathas a good reputation for quality product (even if it costsmore).
Expertise: Audio Engineer
Problems Encountered: When you plug in lines, after a while the sockets/jacksdon't work. The sound quality reminds me of cheap stuff for MP3s. Final sound has high noise levels compared to signal. This is basically unusable beyond low quality output.
