The Impact Shoe Mount Umbrella Bracket is a versatile bracket that will fit on almost any light stand. It includes two removable, reversible studs to adapt to light stands with top studs smaller than the standard 5/8". This bracket tilts and swivels to make aiming the light or flash easy. It also includes a cold shoe mount, which will accept virtually any shoe-mount flash unit (except Minolta/Sony).

Originally I was using the cheap umbrella brackets from those [*]websites and thought they were fine. Once I got one of these, I realized what I was missing out on. The big lever for the main adjustment, the fact that you can flip it over so the umbrella is either in the flexible portion of the adaptor or the other end, and the cold show are all excellent features of this bracket. I will be buying a few more right away.

This was a pretty disappointing purchase. Most of the product is fine, except for the part that actually holds the umbrella. IT'S AN UMBRELLA BRACKET!
Almost the entire thing is plastic, just so you know. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. What is bad, is that the thumb screw that holds the umbrella shaft is a metal screw threaded through plastic. One good over-tightening of an umbrella and this thing will strip. And it seems like that will be easy to do. To secure a Westcott 60" shoot-thru, you have to tighten the screw all the way. Upon my first use of this bracket I was afraid I had stripped it!

I've got three of these now, and like them. I'd give it five stars, but the cold-shoe could be a bit better. I just use the Nikon mounts instead.

Needed to buy this to attach to the stand to hold my reflector. I don't have an assistant :), so this does the job!

It will do the work, but with plastic parts not sure how long will it do it ok. Next time I will buy the Manfrotto one.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:
Its cheap and does the job. It has several mounting options. The reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because the body is made out of plastic. I can see this failing with bigger umbrellas and monolights. If I were to do this all over again, I would get the metal version of this bracket by Impact.
Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:
Very sturdy. My only caveat is the screw that holds the flash to the bracket is very small

Use this with a 530ex and 430ex with a 32" umbrella and have no issues. Its made from heavy duty plastic and looks like it will stand up to some abuse. Its great if you need a cheap bracket for general use or light weight setup.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:
I finally got an umbrella bracket that works. This shouldn't be difficult, but I spent good money on a bunch of rubbish ones from my local shops. I finally spent a quarter of the money on these no-nonsense units.
The cold shoes are serviceable but not great (conducting material under a HOT shoe? who on earth signed off on that?), but replaced with a Frio, they do everything I need (namely, hold a flash, stand and umbrella).

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:
I am an amateur photographer hence I would only use this product on occasion. It does seem to be a quality item; well made and I predict it will have a long life.
What I wanted this for was to have a combination flash and umbrella for portraits mainly. However, the flash can be adjusted (tilted) up or down, but the umbrella cannot. At least I couldn't figure out how to do it. You insert the umbrella shaft and lock it, and that's it.
Admittedly, that's the way the product description reads, so no one to blame but myself.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket:
I've used many of these brackets over the years and I am very satisfied with the function. My only complaint is that the handle to adjust the bending would be made less obtrusive (for storing reasons mainly). Other than that I think its a great product!
