I always enjoy reviewing well made, well priced products that just plain do what they're supposed to do, and this Nikon model AS-19 speedlight stand certainly meets that description!
Fabricated of strong molded polycarbonate, with integrated metal tripod bushing, this flash stand lets you mount portable photo flash units for easy off-camera placement on tabletops, shelves, etc., or to tripods or light stands via the 1/4"-20 mount. It offers three hot/cold shoe sockets to accommodate most any type of flash. It is particularly suitable for use with either Nikons own wireless TTL flash system, or any of the various aftermarket accessories like the Pocket Wizard and similar radio triggers.
It's very stable, even with larger, heavy speedlights coupled to wireless triggers and won't fall or tip over with bounce/diffuser attachments or even lightweight mini-softboxes attached to your flash, but would only recommend using it with umbrellas and larger diffusers with tripods or light stands!
My SB-600 flash came with one of these stands, and I liked it so much that I just bought 2 more for my other speedlight strobes...and you can't beat THAT for an endorsement.

Got it for a SB-26 to use on a tripod/Umbrella stand for off camera work. It is quity sturdy and looks like it will withstand field work.

This product allows th placement of my SB800 Speedlight when it is not mounted on the camera's hot shoe. While light weight it is extremely stable. I wish it was still made from metal instead of plastic.

Works great, good quality. I feel perfectly safe mounting my speedlights on them. Seem pricey for what they are though, but if you need one, you need one.

Quality product, metal tripod socket, much better than the cheap ones that come with the SB700, although they will also do the job.

I own several of these items since I like the portability of them. I rate 4 stars because of the price, way too expensive for what they are.
Use them for Sb900's and Sb600's.
The stand provided with the Sb 900 is a complete failure because they use plastic thread instead of metal so they are not reliable after a few set ups. I am not sure about the stand provided with the new Sb700, but it probably has a cheap plastic thread too. Overall this stand is very durable but sometimes have to be careful about not tighten it too much.

my neighbor has a son on a local school wrestling team and asked me to get some shots of his son in action.
when i arrived at the gym i immediately saw there was not enough light. all i had was my nikon sb-400.
i purchased a nikon sb-600 with an as-19 stand and put the sb-600 on the stand about three feet from the mat. i used the sb-400 to trigger the sb-600 and got some great photos.
if you've never been to a wrestling match they are very exciting and make for some great action shots. The configuration that i used did very well and solved my problem...Nikon4ever.

I use more than one Nikon SB800 flash and require this effective mount for the flash units. Easy practical helps me pay attention to my photo shoot.

I recently received an additional SB-600 in a trade but the stand was missing. This is the standard speedlight stand that comes with the flash.

The flash locks reliably to the stand so I don't have any worries about it falling off.

The bottom of the stand is tapped so it can be mounted on any tripod, in case you want to try off-camera flash and don't have a light stand.

Price was less than I expected.
