This compact, lightweight 55-200mm telephoto zoom lens is the ideal "second lens" in a complete lightweight EOS photographic or digital system.
This new "II" version now has added lens coatings to reduce internal reflections when used with digital camera.
The compact Micro USM (ultrasonic Motor) drive ensures high-speed autofocusing that is silent and precise. Zooming action is excellent, thanks to a new construction design and lubrication techniques, and image quality is outstanding.

Comments about Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Lens:
I read reviews about this lens before I bought it. I am really impressed with the lens (especially for a price point that it projects). The auto focus is not slow like some other reviewers said. Unless the lighting conditions are too dim, it does a faily good job at focusing and just remember that 55-200 translates to 90-300ish on a digital camera and hence you really need like 4.5 ft between yourself and the object. Happy Clicking !!!

Comments about Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Lens:
So far, I've used this lens at an fundraiser to do portraiture of guests and the talent show, and in nature photography. It worked and works very well. It has a nice range, not the best with landscapes, but decent enough. Good lens fo r the price.
What I don't like so much is how far you have to be from the subject in order to focus. With many things that's fine, but with flowers and such, it's a hassle.
A very good lens fo r the price tho.

Comments about Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Lens:
We bought this for our competitions which requires us to zoom in on our subject and i cant wait for the next competition to see how it works. It allows you to get pictures that would come out terrible or require you to be extremely close to whatever is being taken.
Comments about Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Lens:
For the price, you can't beat it. Bought mine in college and have used it for many years. Gets good details for the price and operates quiet and is very smooth.
Expertise: 7+ years and going
Problems Encountered: Would like to see with a larger front lens, but for the price, not bad.
Comments about Canon 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 USM II Lens:
Good for still objects but of course movement needs luck.Easy to operate and compact. I'm happy to have this little lens even without the IS.One cannot expect top quality for the price but used for specific reasons it's fine.Any lenses with IS will keep this lens inactive with some folks but I still use mine for recreational closeups, standing water birds, flowers, etc.
