I'm using this extension tube primarily with my Canon EF 70-200 f4L IS lens. The images are stunning and the extension tube/lens combination is easy to use. If you've already got some excellent lenses and don't need magnification beyond 1-to-1, then this is an inexpensive solution to seriously consider, particularly as compared to buying a dedicated macro lens. With my 70-200 I get the advantage of exceptional optics combined with power of image stabilization for incredible shooting easy.
Used in my system (Canon 5D MkII with L lenses) I see no downside to this product.

Tried it with my 24-70 cannon lens, very difficult to focus. After several attempts, the 70-200 Cannon lens, I was getting some great shots, but took time to learn the distance for focusing.
After playing with the distance, the quality was as good as the macro lens.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
New to photograpy and couldn't justify a dedicated Macro lens (yet). So thought this would be good comprimise. It does as promises and allows me to focus closer getting some half decent macro pictures even with the bugdet EFs 55-250 lens.
Connection to camera (T2i) is solid, but connection to lense is a bit wobbly, not sure if it should be but doesn't make a difference to me at this stage.
Taking rediculous macro pictures all around the house driving my wife mad-

I'm really happy with the Canon ext.tube.I can now get even closer to the subject with my 100 mm macro lense without losing the ability to adjust the aperture. It is solid in construction and overall a good quality product.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
Easy to use with macro lenses and provides great usable magnification as well as increase in depth of field for macro shots taken at a slightly greater distance. By allowing you to move a camera with a macro lens further away from the subject while retaining the same magnification, a greater depth of field is achieved.
This is a great choice for archival scientific photography, particularly insects.

As with all my canon products it is well constructed and is easy to use! I haven't had a whole lot of time to use it but in the testing I have done I'm going to like it very much

This review is also about the Extension Tube EF 12 II by Canon. I bought both of these, mainly for the purpose of obtaining >1 magification with my macro lens and achieving closer focusing distances with my tele-zoom. The extensions are only 10mm (EF 12 II) and 20mm (EF 25 II) and, curiously, Canon warns to not use more than 1 at a time (this is baloney).
The build quality is good, though the front caps do not lock into the extension - prime candidate for losing. Overall there is better value in buying the three tube set from Kenko.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
I am a wedding photographer in SW Florida. I was looking for a better way to get some crisp closeups of details, such as the wedding rings.
This extension tube was the answer! I connect it to my 70-200 and I can get as close as I want to whatever macro item I need to fill the frame. So far I have had no problems with it. Just remember that if you are shooting wide open you have to be a bit more precise about your distance. It works a bit easier if you aren't wide open I have found.

I purchased both EF 12 II and EF 25 II to use with my Canon 100mm f2.8L Macro IS USM. Getting very intriguing results. Simple straight forward to use.

I was considering whether to purchase a Macro lens as I want to try out Macro photography. After some consideration, I decided to get the an extension tube. I got the Canon EF 25 II extension tube and it works with all my canon lens especially the EF 70-200mm F/4L.
Now, I'm planning to make my own Macro photography studio and start practicing macro photography

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
Great product. Fit and function are just what I'd expect. I already have the smaller EF 12 Extension Tube. Nice to have both - can use either or stack. Worth the extra $ vs. third party tubes to me. I use this with my 200/2.8L and 300/4L IS. Great for keeping some distance along with nice magnification. Jim

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
Extension Tubes are a pretty basic device so it is difficult to get into specifics of this sort of product. But, I put it on my camera, it does what it is supposed to do. The AF works through it but since objects are so close to the lens creating great differences in focal points it will try to bounce back and forth between points--but that isn't the tube's fault, just the nature of macro. MF is pretty standard in this sort of work.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
I used the EF 25 with my Macro 100mm IS. Fantastic close up detail, but with a razor thin depth of field, it takes patience to get the focus on the detail you want. Looking forward to finding the right insect on a wind less day.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
I'm an amateur photographer getting into the world of macro. I thought buying an extension tube would be a cheaper way to extend the use of my current lens before diving in and buying a more expensive macro lens. I'm very pleased with the results. My shots are much closer than previously and actually seem a bit sharper, although that might just be me getting better at photography :-)
The thing I didn't expect was how limited my range of focus would be. On my telephoto (55-250mm), I can only focus on items within 5'-6'. And with my regular (18-55mm) lens, I have to be within inches to focus. I'm not saying this is bad since my main purpose for this purchase was macro photography, it was just unexpected, or something I didn't think about before the purchase. In any case, I'm satisfied with this product.

This is the cheapest way to get closer to your subject,I purchased the EF 25 II and the EF 12 II to test them, but I kept both.
Great close ups with any lens, i tested with 50mm 1.4, 100mm IS L macro, 18-200mm IS, all same result...perfect !!!

I had other tubes, but they wouldn't work with my EF-S lenses. The Canon fits perfect and allows me to have macro capability with all my lenses. It is a great way to add diversity to my photographic portfolio. Sure, you pay more, but nothing beats Canon quality.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
I bought this and the EF 12 II for use in photographing butterflies and am extremely happy with the results. I have used the EF 25 II & the EF12 II either alone or combined on my Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS lens on my Canon 7D to allow me to get closer to the bugs thereby increasing the magnification with excellent results. Light loss is minimal/not noticeable with excellent detail; I have not found any significant impact to focusing speed. I have also used these with the 24-105 f/4L IS lens, although you have to get much closer to the bugs for good results while increasing the chances they'll fly away. [@]

I have had the opportunity to purchase extension tube sets with three tubes that were cheap plastic. (The key word here is "CHEAP.") I am VERY glad I waited to buy the Canon tube. Beautifully built as is the other Canon equipment I own.

Comments about Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II:
Been shooting closeups of flowers and everything I can find. It gives great detail, allowing me to get very close into a subject with my 18-135mm lens attached. Very short focal length (50mm), but that is part of the coolness of the extension tube. A great solution to buying a macro lens for several hundred dollars!
