When shooting indoors, this is much more convenient than aftermarket protectors that include a hood becaude you don't have to fold it up between takes (you can't put the camera to your eye with an open hood on the back of the body). It can be lost if knocked off while carrying camera over your shoulder.

Bought this because I lost the cover that came with my camera. Its a OEM replacement from Nikon so the fit was good like the original one. Only gripe I have just like with the original one is that it doesn't sit flush enough with the screen and leaves a good gap underneath. Other than that, it does what it needs to do.

by all means go buy a D700 or D3 but keep the D2X for the times when the weather is questionable and for your investment in DX lenses ! still an incredible camera. and protect that rear LCD with this plastic cover. a stupid way to kill your D2X is to let the LCD get shattered, because you WONT invest to get that replaced. so stock up on these devices and happy shooting !
