Nikon DK-17 Finder Eyepiece (Replacement)
The Nikon DK-17 Finder Eyepiece is a replacement eyepiece for Nikon's D3, D2 series, D700, D800 series, and F6 cameras. Standard eyepieces supplied with Nikon SLR cameras have no corrective value and are for dust protection only. Select eyepieces are supplied with a rubber coating designed to lessen scratching of a photographer's eyeglasses.

Just what you expect, an exact replacement of your factory piece. A bit pricey IMO but so is the camera that it attaches to.

It's hard to go wrong here. This is a manufacturer-supplied replacement part, and it works exactly as you would expect it to. I was unfortunate enough to lose the original off a D700 while making photographs at a wedding; this is an exact replacement.

The replacement worked fine I'm just trying to figure out how the old one worked itself off. I have several cameras that use this eyepiece and this is the first time I lost one. The relacement does have long threads and screws in quite far so I don't expect any further problems.

I purchased a few extra of these for my Nikon D700. Not had to replace them so far. I am out in the field many days per week and its good to have the peace of mind in case one gets shattered.

I had to buy one of these when I knocked my D3 over on its tripod last August (2008). Talk about a nightmare situation...
Anyway, I had to replace the eyepiece that shipped with the camera. This was perfect - the exact replacement that shipped when I bought the D3. It took all of about 3 seconds to re-attach it, and I am back up and running!
