When you need more telephoto in a smaller package, the Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter is an ideal choice. With only 1 stop of light loss the 1.4x converter still provides a fast super telephoto for sports and nature photography. for instance, turn your Zuiko Digital 300mm f2.8 into a 420mm f4.0 (35mm equivalent 840mm f4.0). The EC-14 is compatible with all Zuiko Digital lenses, and is fully multi-coated to retain the high lens performance you expect. This is an inexpensive solution for professional-level results.
Teleconverters are best used with longer telephoto lenses and are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm (35mm format).

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I use the EC-14 1.4X teleconverter with an Olympus E-3 with 50-200mm zoom. This lens is extremely sharp and with SWD very fast autofocus. the lens is normally 400mm and used mostly for Wildlife. With the EC-14 The lens extends to 560 mmm with no loss of sharpness or speed in autofocus. You do however lose 1 f stop. The Photos are still tack sharp and has an etched look to it.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
Use it with my 50-200 for wild life and extra reach paired with low impact on visual quality, works as a charm. Providing there's enough light (and not much is really required) it works well even with the 70-300! Can't imagine a better quality 840mm lens for less money.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
At 4/3 normal-zoom lenses, ~50mm is slightly short to the object, sometimes. Whereas, ~150mm or ~200mm lenses is too long for daily use when it is set to the minimum length(40mm or 50mm).
This item make it possible to extension your all lenses' length easily. 2x Tele-converter has more magnification, but also some reduction of lights and picture details, I heard.
It is a powerful tool for 4/3 user to supplement the interval of the distances of their lenses, and enlarges the photographer's equipment flexibilities.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
Allows me to get those shots that were too far away to capture. Fairly fast focusing.
A little slow to focus in very low light, but other than that I have no complaints.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
This piece is about the same size and weight as the EC25 extension tube. I have owned the EC14 for about a week now, and have mixed emotions. I have not used it as much as I would like to have at this point. Some shots of flowers and seem to have a halo blooming effect when this is in use w/ my 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD lens and my E30.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I am not yet able to purchase the 50-200 that I do intend to add to my gear one day. I bought this as a less expensive alternative to get more range for my 12-60 and 18-180. It works flawlessly. It is a well made piece of gear, solid, but not too heavy. Even with the lower end 18-180 the autofocus is smooth and quick. The loss of one stop is not an issue, as my photography is primarily nature based. One day it will be a great way to extend the range of the 50-200.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
Exceptional optical quality as is the norm with Olympus. I opted for the 1.4 converter vs. the 2.0 for the drip/dust proof capability of their hi-grade series. Gives my 50-200 zoom a maximum reach of 560mm (35mm equivalent), with only one stop loss. For the combined price/quality, hard to beat.

This TC in its little pouch goes always in my bag. Works well even with 3rd party lenses.
It is also dust and splash proved and very well built.

I am pleased with my purchase to a point. Yes it brings better clarity to my wildlife photography but I feel it lacks true zoom for shooting beyond 30 yards. But the price was fair and I love it on my 50-200ED.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
Based on the recommendation of Rick, one of the technicians at Olympus I also ordered the teleconverter when I ordered the 50-200mm f2.8 lens. He was right on with his description of the results I could expect. Of course it works with my other 4/3 lenses but this combination can't be beat unless of course I wanted to spend $7000.00 for the 300mm lens. The quality of the Olympus lenses is 2nd to none. I own an E-30 but when this combination was used with my new E-5 the results were remarkable. Thank you Olympus.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I am a wedding and sports photographer.
I shoot a lot of hockey and HS football. I have in the past rented the 90-250mm and the 300mm f2.8 lenses, but that adds up to a lot of $$$.
I own the 35-100mm f2.0 and with this converter I can now get in tighter during hockey, even football. Sure it stops down to a max of f2.8, but there is no image quality loss because of it. Even on the 50-200mm it drastically improves the range. I used this paired with the 300mm f2.8 and it gave me after the 2x crop factor a focal length of 850mm which was incredible.
The only cons in my opinion is 1)The price is up there as is all olympus gear. 2) The construction, while solid, when mounted to the E3 and the 300mm is the weak point and I can see it becoming loose down the road.

I am using this teleconverter with Olympus E300 and E5 cameras. With a 140% extension of the focal distance on Olympus Four Thirds SLR digital camera lenses, this is a powerful kick, especially for telephoto lenses!
The photographic results are superb!

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I was able to get this quickly to extend the length my Zukio 50-150mm. I experienced no noticeable reduction in IQ. Very happy to see the consistent Olympus build quality evident in this product. It was great to get the extra reach since I am not ready to spend the money to buy a 300mm lens. I will eventually buy the longer lens when I can afford it, because I found the teleconverter a little clumsy to assemble in the field when switching lenses.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I use the EC-14 only under bright daylight conditions to convert my ZD 50-200 f/2.8-3.5 telephoto effectively into 70-280 f/4.0-4.9, with essentially no loss in image quality.
Some people use the EC-14 with the ZD 70-300 lens, but this lens has some image softness near its long end, which the EC-14 will magnify by 40%. This often proves unacceptable, and thus the EC-14 is much less useful for this lens than for the sharper ZD 50-200.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
Primarily used for wildlife/nature shots. A great way to extend the Olympus 50-200 f/2.8 SWD in a small package. Outdoors the 1-stop of light loss is a non-issue. Also works well indoors shooting hockey games where lighting is always a challenge. Even extended to 280mm (560 effective) there was minimal blur shooting action hand held.

Comments about Olympus EC-14 1.4x Teleconverter for Zuiko Digital Lenses (Four Thirds System):
I really debated whether or not I should make this purchase. Having less than a year or so ago dropping the coin for the "Bigma" aka Sigma 50-500 lens as an obvious upgrade from my Zuiko 70-300. I really wish that I would have purchased this first. At the level of photography that I am and and the gear I use, I am comfortable with it. Sure you lose a little stop, but I have not been bothered by it. It makes it a nice all around piece to carry in the car and have on hand rather than lugging out the big lens.
