I like making macro photos, also. I purchased the EX-25 extension tube (brand-new) mostly on the testimony of other users and bought it sight unseen and without handling one at all. Price was a big consideration over buying a dedicated macro lens.
Construction quality of the EX-25 is very good. It's a solid piece. Finish is top-rate. The tube even included a nice little padded, draw-string case/bag that is...well...cute. The tube itself is only about an inch thick. With the front and back caps attached, it is still small measuring only about 1.75 inches thick.
This tube mounts on the camera and then the lens attaches to the tube, and it all fits together precisely with no wobbling whatsoever. Attachment is quick and easy.
Using the EX-25 is easy enough, but demands the use of manual focus and being very close to your subject. You may even have to move the camera back and forth to find the proper focus points. Just remember that this tube is all about macro--it is dedicated to it's task. You may have to experiment a bit just to fine tune your own technique when using this piece. Using a tripod would be an excellent idea, but hand-holding the camera is certainly not out of the question.
You'll enjoy the addition of the EX-25 to your equipment and it will bring another dimension to your photography with a little practice and familiarity.
My only caveat is for those who have successfully used Point-and-Shoot cameras for macro. I used a Canon A620 which could focus to 1cm and did it quickly and well. Macro shots were terribly easy to rattle off. Using the EX-25 is not as easy and you will expend more effort in getting the shot. Like I said before, practice with the EX-25 is a good thing.

This extension tube continues with the quality found in the Olympus E-series equipment. Fit and finish is perfect. I am using this extension with the Zuiko 50mm F2.0 lens.

I have a 1:2 macro lens and decided to buy an extension tube to make it a 1:1 macro lens. The extension tube does just what it says. It works great on flowers and I can't wait to use it on some bugs which is my favorite thing to photo. I would recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
Bought the tube extension for macro photography. Works equally well with a 14-45mm and a 40-150 zoom lens. Manual focusing is required. It is difficult to obtain exact focus through the viewfinder. The 7x or 10x magnification available on the liveview lcd display have provided best results. The tube extension is not as easy to use as I had hoped. It does provide good macro capability at a budget price. I may opt for a dedicated macro lens in the future

for the occasional macro work this unit is very good, limited to macro only but gives excellent results.

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
Real nice addition for intro to macro work without the cost of a dedicated macro lens. Extremely short DOF with the 14-54 lens, with subject being very close to the lens, making lighting a tad more difficult, you really need to remove the lens hood when using this. Note the subject shooting range I assume to be measured from the sensor, not the front of the lens. May prove to be more flexible with the 50-200 zoom.

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
I've tried this out w/ my E-620's kit lenses (14-42 mm & 40-150 mm) and w/ my Oly 18-180. With the 14-42 mm, at the 42 mm end, you have to be right on top of the subject to focus at all. With the 40-150 and the 18-180, the focusing distances still seem to be considerably less than indicated on the Oly website. Unless you have extremely steady hands or exceptional lighting, a tri-/mono-pod is essential. The depth of field is exceptionally tight with both lenses. The detail and image quality at the center of the dof is astonishing, and blurs out rapidly fore & aft. The color rendition seems excellent, although I haven't yet had sufficient experience to know for sure. I'm happy I have it, but am wondering if I might have done better overall by getting one of Oly's dedicated macro lenses...

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
I looked high and low for an extension tube for my Olympus E500 camera since I had recently taken a class with a professional photographer who encouraged his students who were into macro photography to purchase one and begin "playing" with it. I have enjoyed my first experiments with it and am impressed with the results. On my "to do" list is trying the tube with a variety of my other lenses to experiment further.[...]

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
This little gem is great to have if you want the BIGGEST flowers/ insects/ small subject matter to be bigger than life. I use this so far with my Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 lens. And it's wonderful. No issues. Just put it right between the camera body and the lens and you're set. I noticed it requires my long lens to be out all the way for me to get a focus on anything. It's very limiting of depth of field (but in macro, that's a GOOD THING) and part of the fun. With that lens, you have to be at least 3' away to see sharp subjects- but they will FILL your viewfinder- so be ready.

This extension tube works very well with my 12-62 and 50-200 lenses. Working distance is very short, but magnification about right for a range of subjects. Very well made, like all Olympus products, but a bit pricey seeing as there is no glass in this product.

Comments about Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube:
I've just barely begun to scratch the surface of this purchase, but I'm already having fun with it.
I purchased this along with the Olympus/Zuiko 35mm f/3.5 MACRO LENS f/E SYSTEM. Now that I have both, I realized that I probably could have gotten away with only purchasing this EX-25. I attach it to my existing 14-45mm Zuiko lens and get some pretty amazing results. I've been able to take near 1:1 macro shots with much better DoF than the macro and with less light needed.
The main drawback, however, is that once a lens is mounted to this extension, it becomes impossible to shoot at normal distances (i.e., the lens becomes macro only). On the bright side, I've also hooked this up to my 150mm zoom with some interesting results as well. I'm still experimenting with what this little gem can do, but it opened up a lot of possibilities that I would not normally have had with standard lenses only.
A lesser drawback is that the focus ring on the main lens becomes useless and, instead, you need to use the zoom ring to focus either in full MF or in S-AF+MF modes
The 35mm f/3.5 MACRO LENS f/E SYSTEM is better if you are going to use a single lense for 35mm standard shots as well as macro shooting without having to change lenses, but if you don't mind having to swith back and forth (which I always do out in the field anyway), the EX-25 is half the price and does a similar job.

use this with my Olympus 50mm macro lens for which it was designed for, so it enables you to use all the auto settings if you choose to do so. works as advertised, no light lose or distortions at the edges. a well made accessory, and worth the money if you're into any phase of close up photography. the only draw back i've encountered is that under certain low light conditions you will need to have a ring light flash or some other sorce of "extra" light...a tripod of some kind is also a must.
