Comments about Olympus 10x21 Outback RC II Binocular:

We never seem to have a decent pair of binoculars to use when going to the beach each Labor Day, so I resolved to get a pair that would be of good quality, but not expensive since others besides me would be using them. Enter the Outback binoculars from Olympus. The RC I (yes, RC I...RC II is incorrect, says so right on the binocular's shell) comes in two types: 8x21 and 10x21. As there was less than 10 dollars difference in price between the two, I popped for the greater magnification and have not been disappointed. Though almost entirely made of plastic, it's good quality plastic and it's assembled precisely. The optics are clear, though a tad dim in certain conditions, and concentration is required to get a steady image at longer object distances. Still, these are an excellent value and highly recommended as a spare or travel pair.

Comments about Olympus 10x21 Outback RC II Binocular:

I bought this binocular based on a high rating from Consumer Reports, but the quality of this product still managed to exceed my expectations. The image is crystal clear and very steady, construction seems sturdy, fit and finish are solid, the unit is even more compact and lightweight than I expected, and adjustments are very easy. (One does need to read instructions, though, which are simple enough; the same applies to any binocular. Reviewers who could not focus this binocular either had a defective unit or, more likely, did not follow the instructions correctly.)

This binocular can be used with eyeglasses, but I find that I get a better experience if I use it without glasses. (Like any binocular, this model will correct your vision at least as well as your glasses.) Having spent hours watching wildlife and boats on the bay, I cannot find any flaw with this product. Sure, it would be nice if it were waterproof (it isn't), but that would make it both heavier and more expensive. For the price and the size of this binocular, there is no better value. One small correction to the product listing on the B&H site: the model number is 10x21 Outback RC I, not RC II. Otherwise, the product is exactly as advertised.
