For decades, cameras have been designed to be rested on the operator's shoulder. The weight of the camera body is borne on the shoulder and the weight of the lens in the front is counter-balanced by the weight of the battery behind the camera. Professional cameraman and camera manufactures have long been aware of these ergonomics - balance is the key to fatigue free shooting and stable camera. A "stasis" is defined as "the state of static balance or equilibrium".
The Stasis redirects the geometry of a mini-DV camera to make use of the most stable camera support platform in the world - the human body. The Stasis frame supports the camera package weight on the shoulder, a front plate comfortably takes weight off the operator's hand and incorporates a high performance professional battery to counter the forward weight of the camera. The result is a body support system, which improves the ergonomics and the performance of professional mini-DV camcorders.
